Video Xbox 360 PS3

Most of you have probably been able to try the demo version of Dead Space 3 that was made available to those who had an "exclusive" code to get it early. We wouldn't want PS3 owners or unlucky ones to feel left out, so here is it in video, if you're curious to see what the game looks like in high quality. Also, because we've been sent 15 codes to allow you guys to have early access to the demo, we are giving them away today. To obtain a code, you don't even need to "like" this article, nor do you have to add Gamersyde to your neverending list of Facebook friends. You simply need to have been a member here for at least one day, leave a comment right here and be the best bootlicker of them all. the first 15 members to post will get a code, but remember the French side is also playing!

Visually it looks great IMO, Frostbite Engine 2 from BF3.
The vistas looks fantastic especially with a snow/ice planet.

Also, they used Alien music cue when you see the building from afar with the sun, noticed it when they first showed the demo, loved it!

Anyways the demo will be out on PSN next week along with MG Rising :D

Skeptical at first about co op but adding new story elements only unlocked with co op is a great idea. Still I doubt the dread of being alone with no one to help you is gone.

Dead Space has forgotten the formula of scare tactics.

That being said, it still looks amazing, it's just that it lacks atmosphere.

What? it oozes with atmosphere compared to Dead Space 1 for example were it was nothing but interior ship corridors with nothing else, and Dead Space 2 was more or less the same but atleats it had some nice views.

fixed :p

Games like Crysis are not even in my ''to borrow'' list. :D

On topic: Played DS3 demo on sp and co-op. Daylight, snow, enemies with guns - It feels like Lost Planet without that constantly energy drain. Hopefully the full game is 90% dark levels and 10% like the demo... Definitelly will wait to read some impressions before pull the trigger for this one. Current demo lacks of that DS1 and 2 atmosphere indeed.

edit: At least you don't have to play with AI on sp like RE5 and 6. :p

@Sath I'm more talking about the atmosphere of loneliness and abandonment. Yes the corridors leant itself to that feeling but it's that claustrophobic atmosphere that seems lacking in Dead Space 3.

As a third person shooter it's atmospheric but it's no longer Dead Space.

I like the idea in the first Condemned (I think) where the final showdown is in a shanty house with the serial killer you've been chasing the entire game.

We dont know that this is like the entire game, they barely showed many SP footages to gave a hint that its gone.

@Sath

True. Very true. It just doesn't seem like it when you've got A.I necromorphs running around with guns if the demo is anything to go by.

After playing the demo, I thought the same thing. Right down to the fur collar on the Arctic suit and the rather "Akrid" looking boss encounter.

I did appreciate the artistic styling, aggresiveness and speed of the new aliens. Those prickly SOBs can move quick!

I can't really speak to what DS3 has to offer in terms of atmosphere, but I'm with Tiz; the first Dead Space was ALL atmosphere. And while it did somewhat lack level variety, I felt they did a really good job of giving areas unique looks while still making it feel like it was on a ship. DS2 faltered a bit for me because its levels lacked a certain cohesiveness, and there wasn't as much atmosphere to me.

Hardly a must buy. probably one of the sequels that goes against fans "core ideas" of the IP, but still try to make it work. Probably a "already invested on the franchise" bunch is the main buyers they i'll keep playing, but i see some disregard the franchise with DS3.

IMO Dead Spac is like Bioshock, new IP the setting and the new look sucks the player in instantly, but as sequals go on you either get bored with the same atmosphere (Bioshock 2) or they gotta change it up enough so its not the same "stuck in a ship". I mean i dont want Dead Space to become "stuck in a ship in the dark" franchise, if they dont change stuff up I will be bored of it. I am surprised people say DS3 is like Lost Planet because of the snow but doesnt say DS1 is like Doom.

I am glad Dead Space 3 is more snow/ice planet, having that atmosphere of unknown planet, the blizzard environment were you cant see anything (now and then), below zero coldness (if that played a factor in the game)...etc. I mean snow planet isnt only for Lost Planet. Killzone 3 had it and even movies like The Thing or AVP.

PS. I dont disagree, DS1 was about atmosphere, I mean it was so close to Alien movie which was nice.
