Video PC Xbox 360 PS3

We are running a bit late but I'm just back from a well-deserved vacation so I'm sure you'll forgive us for waiting until today to show you a bunch of videos taken from the Mafia 2 video that was released on August 10. The console versions are clearly not as sharp and smooth as the PC version but they are still doing a good job at conveying the great atmosphere of the game and no matter what some people think, they are very enjoyable to play despite some aliasing and framerate issues. I chose to cut the demo in three different vidéos so we will logically start with the first one this morning. Two more will come later today, enjoy!

Game looks good, plays nice. It sure looks a little more realistic than GTA. But comparing the two isn't really what I care about.

I am worried by the resolution of the game. I played it on my ps3 since my one year of XboxLive Gold just ended, so I couldn't try it out on the 360 which is my platform of choice to be honest. (my ps3 gets enough lovin' from playing LBP)

Anyways it looks like the game is rendered at an even lower resolution than 720p. The contours look so thick and choppy.

THOUGH, the game plays great. And searching for the Playboy magazines is a fun side-quest-thing but doesn't add too much.

My opinion, backwards. Coulddn't give a damn about resolution when Jaggies(lack of proper AA) are this intrusive allied with massive tearing and frame-rate dips.

I'll be getting this on the PC and playing it with the 360 pad. I'll only grab it for my 360 if there's some kind of epic multiplayer or co-op as most of my friends are on 360 and live rocks.

I played the demo on both systems, and basically it runs badly on both, but worse on the PS3. Neither has anti-aliasing and both look sub 720p, but the PS3 version has even more slow down and tearing than the 360 version.

And the cut scenes are blatantly pre-rendered on both versions.

Still, quite a fun game.

Surprise surprise.. A game that runs better on the 360.

Anyway, this game looks fantastic in 1080p with vsync on. I was able to simply walk around and enjoy all the artwork and style. It's a great work of art on the PC, and very fun to play with a 360 controller as well as mouse and keyboard.

Well, this game's produced in Czech Republic and the console scene there isn't that big so obviously people there would like to make pc games more. Would make more sense for the local market. I didn't have 360 before I moved out of the country. Mafia 2 started production before Take 2 took over Illusion Softworks so I wonder if there would be Mafia 3 if it would be planned to be developed on all systems from scratch. Hopefully it won't end up like Deus Ex 2.

This is probably the saddest example of a game bad ported to consoles. I say saddest because if the game sucked it wouldn't really matter, but the thing is thing is that this little baby is incredible on its PC version. I wish develoepers could've managed to optimize it better on consoles.

If you have the rig, you must buy it on PC. It even supports the Xbox 360 controller without configuring it, same layout as the console version.

Whatever, I just don't see enough people having Rigs powerful enough to run the game at the levels that stomp the Console's. People talk like all PCs will run it like those pics do. The truth is many will have to turn down the settings, turn off the PhysX. If they can iron out the framerate issues, the game will be fine on Console...

Actually physX is not a setting, it's an option. And it's not working as it should; not even on nVidia-cards (the average benchmark framerate of 2 gtx480's sli = 52 fps on High Apex setting at 1080p maxed out).
That many will have to turn down the settings, is with most pc-games. That's not specific to this game.

Aren't those brand new cards though? I can't imagine people upgade that often( for me it's more like 3-4 years). What I don't like is that they didn't do any decent physics for use outside of the Apex stuff. The Console physics are much better than with Apex turned off( they didn't even have the trench coat move)...

Too bad this is a bad port at least the demo. PS3 version seems to have less grass or shaved areas lol but I have seen latest pic of it showing grass is there. So hopefully this is older build.

If the game is going to be like demo. I do not think it will get any praise for gfx, performance on console. PC looks great though

With Phsyx and AA off I'm getting 58Fps Average on 1080p, everything else on Max. Phenom II @ 3.6Ghz, GTX 280. With a 460 I think I can achieve higher even with AA enabled.

The game looks simply incredible.
