Video PS3

After releasing a demo that wasn't really one according to some, Polyphony is back with this video of Gran Turismo 5 presenting the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. A lot more impressive, as usual with the trailers of the game.

Would hardly call it a trailer for the game tbh, it's more real life footage than gameplay, and any gameplay footage is cut so fast that you cant make any real argument about how good or bad it looks.

It seemed to have been more of a real life commercial for the car than a game footage ad for GT5.

Those graphics are horrid. I'll stick with Forza3 thanks.

They better release a hell of a game after 4 years of development. Trailer doesn't look very promising.

As bad as PD seem to be at PR as of late, I'm not gonna give up hope as they have quite a nice track record to say the least. I'm really considering getting a G25 wheel for this (they go for pretty cheap on ebay now) once the game finally arrives. I'm just worried it won't come out in the states until summer.

Whether it is better than "the other game" i'm not too concerned, but I have little doubt it will be a very good game. my biggest concern is that PD won't get the online part right. I'm really curious to see how well they do on the rally part of the game, that could be amazing if done right.

Then you should consider not even buying this.

Sure GT5 has a load more of cars and Rallye and stuff and bluff, but if a racing game as multi-faceted as Forza bored you quickly then this is simply not the genre of your preference I guess...

Actually I think it is 5 years...

Anyways, modelling more than 1000 cars with such detail is massively time-consuming I reckon, thats why I fear that other features came too short.
Lets wait, hope, see & judge.

With the amount of fanboy comments here contradicting what the trailer shows, I don't even know if you guys are actually being sarcastic.

I wouldn't get such an expensive game for this game--it would be a waste. I played it with my Momo wheel and it just feels horrible, I couldn't stand it. I plugged it back into my PC for GTR2 in no time.

I come in this thread and read fanboyz' reply for fun.

Too bad those fanboyz' moaning & shit won't affect the game's quality even one bit, they just waste their time.

I think you have to take this in the context it's being made in, a combined car advert/game teaser, it's no different to the FM3 TV Ads with the real cars with their doors open, with just 1 quick bit of actual graphics.

I'm always impressed with GT5 graphics, but that's all PD seem to be bothered about advertising, I want to see the 'actual' game playing!! But isn't this always the case.

^ Yeah, this is definitely the Final Fantasy syndrome- don't show the game, just some cool footage that is related to the game. Blah, I can't stand it how they(the PR/ Marketing departments) show friggin' CG from the game and claim it's the game. I'm talking about everyone in the industry right now.
What's worse is some companies don't even release gameplay footage in a more appropriate setting( like on internet sites). I remember back before the playstation 2, the commercials showed darn game. The advent of incredible CG has up the ante I guess. Talk about misrepresentation.
Anyway, back on topic- Does it really matter if this is better or worse than Forza? Both games are gonna be quality, and if you dig the genre, you win...

QFT. which game is better is so subjective it's not even worth debate. They are both established great franchises that are GREAT games for racing fans. Both are always day one buys for me.

still looking forward to it... wish they would start showing gameplay though. T10 frustrated marketing forza 3 like this. Atleast PD havent started advertising any dlc for it yet.

One things for sure... it's definatly coming out this year...maybe

Was kinda disappointed in the demo, and I'm a little sick of these trailers. They all have either over rendered or real life footage, and give little or no idea as to what the quality of the game'll be.
Worst part is when fucking fanboys talk about how much better this game is and looks then Forza 3. You haven't barely SEEN the game. v.v
And as for the argument between the games, when you are talking about sim games like this, its a viable argument. It's different with like, FPS's and the like, because the goal is objective. A sim game is made to recreate reality. bonus points for those who make a game more accessable, have a better HUD, online component, etc. In terms of what you get, it seems like Forza puts a lot more out there. It doesn't just make a sim, it goes the extra mile to make it playable by the average joe as well, and does it was style and adds great persistence. As for what GT is bringing to the table, we have yet to see so much attention to the players, or such a complete package. Yes, it will be great, but I think they need to realize they ARE competing against a VERY high quality game with lots of great stuff going for it.

Kind of immune to GT trailers at this point, I have every confidence the final game will be stellar but it has been so long I am just kind of automatically tuning it out until release at this point.

I love this Merc. It has that vintage look of the great 300SL of early 90's. This Merc SLS AMG will also feature in the cover of the game hehe ...

This will be best racing game I have no doubt. Now body can make cars like these guys. But no game is perfect and GT will also have some flaws. GS has 5 little videos from ces. Looks like sounds have improved too :D The great Mclaren F1 is also confirmed.

According to GTplanet and guys with PS official Magazine:
- Deformation for every car in the game although race cars will see even more damage
- First screens of GT5's night racing
- 1,000+ vehicles, all with modeled interiors
- Up to 16 players online
- Indy cars and tracks will be included
- Head tracking is reconfirmed and it's for use during racing
- Multi display is back (using 3 PS3's for a wider view)
- HD uploads to YouTube
- Weather
- Night racing for all tracks
