GSY Video PS4

Since we are part of the lucky ones to have received a Playstation VR kit before launch, we have been able to prepare a few videos to share our experience with some of the games that will be available on October 13. We also wanted to add impressions in English but we ran into unexpected problems with our capture equipment, so all we have now are gameplay videos of PlayStation VR Worlds. We will update the article, adding videos, and possibly impressions, later today, but for now, if you have any questions, just ask away in the comments!
Note: It is very important to know that the resolution of what the PS VR renders on the TV (so basically what we can capture) is lower than what the person using the headset can see. Don't believe that it looks as poor as that when you experience the whole thing. Obviously, don't expect HTC Vive/Occulus Rift quality either, PS4 and PS VR are much cheaper.
UPDATE 1: Rush of Blood videos added
UPDATE 2: Battlezone video added
UPDATE 3: Tumble VR videos added
UPDATE 4: Headmaster and Job Simulator videos added

Thank You for this. I'm still considering buying this. Please tell me one thing....do You think, the VR technology is in a state, we can really enjoy it? Is it worth it? And is the lack of physical feedback really that bad (I mean some throw up scenario :-D )? Thank You.

The question is... is it worth 400€?

In fact that was the question, because it's expensive as f*ck. It's just frustrating, I can't try it anywhere. I hope, when this hardware will be out, shops will offer You the chance to try it. Otherwise You are buying "hare in a bag" as we say here.

is it easy enough to set up and unplug to take round a friends? or does it feel like once its set up you probably don't want to deal with it ever again?

also, the playstation VR worlds. what sort of length are we talking for each experience? does the luge have multiple tracks or just the one? the deep is just one shark tank demo right? how long is scavengers odyssey? i'm trying to weigh up if it's worth the asking price of £25 or not.

Luge looks like a great fun. I'm also wondering about the tracks variety.

Davton will explain it better than me, but no. There are a lot of cables.

As for PS VR Worlds, it's basically a tech demo, so don't expect much in terms of content and depth.

It's too soon to tell you if PS VR is worth its price, but as far as I'm concerned, I don't believe that any VR headset has anything really interesting to offer for their price tags.

i know there is power for the breakout box. hdmi's to and from the breakout box connecting to the PS4. and then the headset itself. that doesn't sound so bad. but maybe there is more involved i'm overlooking?

Honnestly now everything is plugged in, I don't want to change anything, it's not hard to plug as the instructions are clear, but there are lots of cables...

HDMI TV => "PS VR box"
HDMI "PS VR box" => PS4
USB "PS VR box" => PS4
AC plug "PS VR box" => Electric Supply
Cable PS VR Headset => "PS VR box"
Stereo Headphones => Inline remote of the PS VR Headset
USB Playstation Camera => PS4

Virtual Reality is a very interesting proposition, though I do agree with you that there's no "killer app" right now, a game that is worth the very expensive price of admission. But hopefully, this will change in the next couple of years.

My only question right now is about your guys' impressions about PSVR, which you mentioned you will post them later. But specifically with the whole "potential of VR", or to put it more clearly:

Is VR the "next step/evolution" in gaming as hundreds and hundreds of gaming press' people have said over and over for so many years?

Of course, you can't say for others, but in your guys opinions - BlimBlim, Davton and anyone else who spent time with PSVR, is the fuss worth it or can you at least see the potential for greatness?

That's what interests me right now, because almost every single VR article I have read in the past made it sound like "the second coming of Jesus", for lack of a better phrase, now I'm wondering if that has at least a sliver of truth to it, no matter how small - Of course it isn't true and gaming press overhype many things, but does it have the potential to be true in your guys' humble opinions.

From my experience of watching all the Giant Bomb VR streams/shows, about 25 hours in total, and more often than not (I wanna say >70% of the time) the game are overpriced for what they are, length/graphics/gameplay/sound/etc considered.

VR is so new [There are LOADS of games but a LOT of them are poo/horribly overpriced] so they know they can charge "too much", like 40-60 dollars for a game which would be worth 20-40 without VR-support, so its difficult to see the value at regular prices, I would divide the price by 1.5/2 and then evaluate the price from there, just my advice.

If I take the prices at face value I would probably conclude that almost EVERY game is overpriced, apart from maybe 10 + the great free ones.

Examples of great games under 35 dollars being AudioShield, Space Pirate Trainer and SoundStage to name a few.

I personally don't believe it will be. There will certainly be specific domains in which it will work and thrive, but I don't believe videos game will be one of them, not unless people accept to have very limited gameplay mechanics in the future (something I am not ready to do). I also think that, considering the short length of VR games, they should be a lot cheaper.

From what i have read today while VR is interesting it's just not worth the price point right now, Seems VR fatigue sets in pretty quickly as well which limits you to 30-45 mins a session.

Got a feeling this second VR fad will die about as quickly as 3D the second time round did which will be 2 or 3 years.

The consoles also lack the hardware to drive the visual experience and open world experience that we are accustomed to in 2016. I understand it looks better in person but that luge video looks straight out of the PS2 era.

no crap, until dawn vr game is a rollercostar railshooter. i mean really?

just because there is a new kinect 2.0 on the market doesn't mean all games need to make gimmicks for it.

If you're gullible enough to believe VR will allow for complex gameplay mechanics any time soon, good for you man. Now considering it's the first time I've seen you write something positive, I guess it must be for the sake of contradiction.

I'm sure vr games will get more and more complex as time goes by. It just takes time for players and devs to get used to it. Some people are getting sick just by moving your character around in vr, so im not suprise that vr games right now are very simple and short. Its way too early for me personally to jump into vr but im definitely very interested in the technology. Its looking like an expensive gimmick right now but every new technology is like that at the beginning and hope vr wont fail because it has huge potential to become amazing. Just to be clear though, i dont want vr to replace traditional gaming.

Just downloaded the Luge vid, Jeez was not expecting it to be that bad and this is just a tech demo where they can actually increase the graphics compared to what we get in full games?

At this point would even the Scorpio be enough to power VR?

That's another reason we get so many tech demos. Technology is not there yet to support huge games like witcher 3. But vr has to start somewhere to get to that point.

The issue I had when I spent 10 mins with the playstation VR was they had to reset it about 3 times, the controllers sometimes lose tracking if you cover the orbs on the end, the field of view is not as good as the vive or oculus either so that breaks a bit of immersion, the headset is by far the more comfortable one though

Another bad note was because the camera has limited view of the room when playing something like job simulator there are items you need to pick up that are out of the cameras sight so you cant reach for them but they sort of PORT to where you can grab them, breaks immersion though

Yeh because it will have 12gb memory and the graphics card is on par with the gtx 1070. tbh people should get the ps4 pro if they want a bit better experience instead of the standard ps4

VR will never replace traditional gaming. it has limited uses and i don't think anyone is naive enough to think otherwise. but what those uses are increase immersion ten fold. i look at VR the same way i look at a steering wheel. it's an extension of a standard form of gameplay that adds immersion but ultimately has limited use. i don't ever expect to play something like the last of us in VR, what benefit would i gain from that? but something like skyrim or fallout? in the future, definitely. basically anything that strives to put you in the place of a character, and see through their eyes is where VR is going to shine. for me, day one, those games are rigs, driveclub, and battlezone. they have depth because fundamentally they are traditional games. they're just bettered by VR. in the future i will get GT sport and RE7, again. traditional titles with increased immersion. VR is the future in that regard imo. but fifa? uncharted? gears of war? that will always suit a traditional screen better...and that's fine. not every racing game needs wheel support. and similarly not every game needs VR support.

P.S. rigs and driveclub footage please! and thumper if you have it.

I'll be the first to admit I want the craziest graphics for my VR experience, but could it be that many of you, when criticizing the visuals, are ignoring the one thing you can't gleam ffrom these vids, namely the VR aspect? I'm looking at that luge video and the random traffic looks absolutely mortifying! It helps that the speed is fantastic, but try picturing the completely enveloping nature of VR while lugeing down that mountain. It may be frighteningly visceral. That said, nice draw distance.

i read "limited use" ... i think you are taking VR for something that HAVE to give "dunno what"....
instead, think of it as a TV... same games, but you are IN..
that's the thrill.... i just tried 3D stream from PC to Smartphone with VR thingy (idiotic Note 3 Neo with 720p res, PSVR is 1080p) ... it gave me fantastic sensations while playing Skyrim / Thief that way..
so i think PSVR IS a LOT better than a PC streaming on a smartphone lol
early game are short and half idiotic ? y i think so too.. but something seems to be on the horizon... you like racing games ? try Driveclub VR.. and i'm sure more will come with VR support..
Eve Valkyrie ? it sounds great...
asking if it's portable ? pack it in a bag.. et voila
i don't think that few cables are that HEAVY
AND, it doesn't have to replace the TV, but it's something that goes the same way, same direction..
the question is, Does it follow the head movements perfectly ?
did you have headache ? or something like that..
games will come.... the game is coming
