First 10 minutes Xbox 360 PS3

These videos were captured a while ago but somehow I forgot to put them online, but better late than never: here's the First 10 Minutes of Avatar, the game based on the movie.

Is this game some kind of an open world-rpg-shooter with lot of vehicles-mix?

This game is a mess. Shame because the movie was awesome, but it's not like the first time that has happened.

If I did play this game, it would have to be as the Navi. The humans in the film, with the exception of those who actually had a brain stem, all deserved to die horribly.

I agree with you guys, the movie was far more touching and entertaining than I was hoping for. I was really turned off by the look of the Navi from the trailers, but by the end of the movie thought they were all very beautiful. Cameron not only delivered the best visuals to date, but also managed a great anti-war love story that was, even if a little cheesy, still very nice.

amazing movie, but the game is pretty terrible, i got about 3 quarters of the way through it, and when i was asked to collect a plant sample for some random character i didnt care about for the 100th time, i sort of lost all will to live. stopped playing and sent it back to lovefilm.

i was kinda hoping cameron would have maybe used his obsessive compulsive need for perfection on the game that is based on the movie he has taken 10+ years to make. i guess that's asking too much tho, instead its a typical movie game. terrible.

pretty nice graphics tho.

Caneron knows about directing. He's not a gamer or a programer unfortunately. It wouldnt have mattered if he did give this attention.

I can't see pandora (makes me think of borderlands every time) making that good of a video game world anyhow, aside from the graphical potential. the story and characters just don't really make for a great video game style set up. IMO at least...

they could have definately done more with it then they did tho. it's no exageration when i say 50% of the game is going from one area to another (usually on foot) to collect plant samples. which you then take back to whatever faceless, nameless na'vi gave you the task in the first place. it's got the monotony of travel found in far cry 2, with the repetative objectives of assassins creed 2. but as i said, it looks nice, and if you have a 3D ready TV you can take advantage of that feature. although with a game this bad, i'm not sure you'd want to.

Well first off I actually really enjoyed Far Cry 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 quite a lot so not sure about those points but collecting plant samples does seem like a HUGE mistake.

As for the whole 3D thing, I'm still not sold on that being such a great thing for video games. I saw Avatar in 3D and while cool, it also gave me a fucking headache.

edit: you really do feel the need to rent even the crappiest of games don't you? lol. My friends give me shit for how many games I rent, but you sound like you have quite the addiction

there has only been a handfull of games i refuse to rent, namely racers and banjo kazooie nuts and bolts (the demo was a steaming pile of shit) everything else (and imean EVERYTHING) is fair game, plus i'm a bit of an achievemnets whore. so that doesnt help matters.

the way i see it, all games are worth giving a chance. i've played some critically acclaimed games i hate, yet played some crittically slated games that i've loved. you cant just go by what you see and what you read from my experience, you have to actually play it yourself. most of the time the game wasnt actually worth your time, but sometimes you find somethin you really love.

KORNdog is right, you HAVE to play a game to see the true appeal behind it. But I can tell that this game wouldn't be worth my time, just because I require a certain amount of technical quality to enjoy a game. Only in rare cases I'm able to oversee technical shortcomings, if the gameplay is extraordinarily and truly entertaining, like Bioshock (PS3 version). Call me a graphics whore. But remember, if you feel like doing so, check whether you're one of the people who said "t looked so incredibly real, that's one of the reasons why I love it" about Cameron's Avatar. Visuals are an important aspect for both movies and games - sure, a good story and good acting can rescue a visually unpleasant movie from being bad, but how would the Avatar movie be received if the CG effects weren't so impressive? Perhaps not bad, but sure as hell less good.

The animations in this game look so choppy, robotic even. The voice acting is good enough, but the background music sounds very generic to me. Maybe it's because I only watched the streams with the lackluster PS3 browser, but I noticed quite an annoying level of screentearing. Also, the bullets look like yellow goo. These are the kind of graphics that look decent in a static screenshot, but once the game is running, it's not pleasant at all to look at it. Imo.

I'd perhaps give this game a chance if the game had highly enjoyable gameplay, but judging from other people's comments, it's repetitive and generic. So, no thanks, and better luck next time.

Another game that fails to buck the shit game movie tie in trend.

Oh well, if Cameron knew anything about gaming he would never have made a deal with Ubisoft, one of the most pandering and uneven game development houses.

Well I would certainly think (or hope) that most would agree that you can't go by reviews alone, and that first hand experience is the only true way to properly judge a game of course. I just really envy some of you guys who have the TIME to play all these games. Between working full time, going to school full time, girlfriend, going to the gym, playing basketball, etc... I get frustrated not having enough time to play the games I want to play, let alone all the others.

But I do really enjoy trying out different games, just to see what the devs did with it. Some bad games can be entertaining for a while just to see the design choices they made.
