Xbox 360

Dead or Alive Extreme Volleyball was one of my favorite games on the Xbox. It wasn't a deep game at all, but it was, first and foremost, a great way to kill some time when coming home from work. Getting a sequel on the 360 was great news for me so I preordered the game as soon as possible. But now after a few hours of playing the game I'm quite disappointed. Between the graphics far from being as impressive as I'd expect from Team Ninja (and at 30 fps!), the fact that the game has now become a bit too complex to just play and enjoy it for a few minutes of fun and an overall lack of polish, I can't help but think that DOAX2 was just a quick cash-in Team Ninja rushed out of the door to be in time for Christmas. I can't say it's an awfully bad game, but it's basically just the sum of average to OK small games, linked with numerous and very annoying loading screens.

I think making this game first was the best thing to do, the more experience they have with the 360 the better NG2 will turn out.

I will be getting this game even though it has got bad reviews, never did get the first one.

I'll rent it. I like that they added more things to do on the island, but the fact that you can't just wander around the island and do stuff screams of lazyness.

I'm probably gonna get it too just for some leisure play when I'm bored or something.

I agree with Jolli, they more time they spend developing on the Xbox the more knowledge they know and the better games like NG2 will turn out on the Xbox 360.

BlimBlim, I don't really think it's a quick cash in to be honest, cause there are a lot of Japanese people who love this game for obvious reasons other than gameplay. I think Team Ninja just made this game for the fans, for people who just wanna take it easy, and to get more familiar with the hardware.

Although, there is tons of improvement that they could have made. Since there's a lot to be explored and it feels like a lazily made game.

I think Team Ninja used this game as a break from the amount of work they put into DOA4 and to prepare for more work on NG2.

Hardly!

DOA has become a serious contender as a fighter, besides Itagaki is already said he's already looking into DOA5.

Should I buy DOA4? I have been wondering for some time whether or not to buy it and just want to know if I should pick it up, since it can be found rather cheap these days...

Blim just wait til you've spent a bit more time with the game and get the expensive jetski.
Volleyball is now a lot harder, so that wont be your main moneymaker. What will is the jetski, which is every bit relaxing as you can want in this kind of game. The water is beautiful, peaceful, and there are some challenging courses to keep you on your game. So basically jetskiing replaces volleyball for the relaxing play of the last one. Waterslide was really fun, and once you memorize where you need to speed up and slow down, you can always choose to do that for a break from jetskiing if you just want a fast-paced race down the slide. I find it even better than the first one, since I really didn't enjoy playing volleyball in the last one. Pool hopping was also pointless in the last one, and I didn't like doing it. Still loved the game though to relax. This one has even more things to do. I think your mind will change if you give it another few hours of play. I expect to see your update opinions then. =)

Yes they could have done a lot more with this title which is disappointing. Still, the stuff they did add--marine race, photomode, english voices, self-shadowing and yes, tanlines--are all great additions. But after a week or so, my main gripe with the game is the slow pace of making money. It doesn't help that I still haven't mastered the new volleyball. I think everything could be priced at half of what it is and it still wouldn't feel too easy or go by too fast. Unfortunately, when I play now I just get frustrated by long it takes to buy things.

I'll certainly give the game some more time, but just making the 2 millions or so necessary for the best jet ski is definitely quite a shore. And I find the water in that mode to be really ugly in fact :/

Got the game and, yeah, it gets boring. Its nice to watch watch the girls pose but rent, don't buy. Other than that, i'm definately looking foward to Ninja Gaiden 2 and DOA 5! It'll kick @$$

Actually I hear that on the early days you make more money with the dolphin. The tigershark however allows you to play some harder races that can get you like over 230k for winning.

It has women! HAHA!

Yeah I dont know why they continue DOAX series, it just hurts their image. They really need to make some quality games that is a considerable jump from their previous installations.

At first I wasn't happy w/ the game at all, but I dunno.. the loss of 60fps sucks but the gameplay is still fun.

I consider myself guilty of really (still) wanting to have this sequel. But I think this is actually the first Team Ninja game ever not running with 60fps.

must. wait. only. a little. longer.

I wonder why they lost the 60 fps, maybe the 360 isn't as powerful as i had hoped :(

Doesn't seem to be the massive step up from DOA4 (that was at 60 fps right ?)

I guess there is a lot of water physics and self shadowing going on, maybe thats why.

what, 30fps?? Wasn't every team ninja game released 60fps? Geez, there isn't even much going on onscreen. I guess self shadowing is the reason why the framrate got cut in half.
