Press Release:

New York, NY – August 31, 2010 – 2K Games announced today the September 7, 2010 release date for Jimmy’s Vendetta*, the second action-infused downloadable game add-on for the epic crime game, Mafia® II. In Jimmy’s Vendetta, players will experience arcade-style gameplay with more than 30 new quests and leaderboard ranking. Jimmy’s Vendetta will be available for players worldwide from the PlayStation®Store for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC for $9.99/800 Microsoft Points.

Jimmy’s Vendetta takes players into an alternate perspective of the mob through the eyes of Jimmy, the guy the other guys call when they need to finish the job. Players will get their hands dirty helping Jimmy clean up other people’s messes as they deal with the Italian and Irish mobsters that reside in Empire Bay. As players progress, a slew of new quests are unlocked, including assassination and timed vehicle pursuits ending in dramatic shootouts and explosive car chases. Execute with deadly head shots or charged explosives, and rack up points for precision-timed vehicular power slides, lofty jumps, and supercharged velocity. Multipliers and combos add bonus points to overall scores that will be immediately posted to thenew online leaderboard system, providing extensive re-playability as players work to rise to the top of the ranks.

Through a compelling narrative,Mafia II transports gamers into the dark and unforgiving world of the Mafia. The fiction is embellished by a sophisticated, era-evoking atmosphere that meticulously replicatesthe clothing, cars, music and advertising of 1940s and 1950s Americana. Players will easily become immersed in the game's cinematic Hollywood-style experience with strong, believable characters in a living, breathing metropolis. By fusing action-packed gameplay with white-knuckle driving and an epic gangster story, Mafia II is the industry's most compelling Mafia title to-date.

Mafia II is developed by 2K Czech, the same creative team behind the award-winning, genre-defining Mafia®, which captivated millions of gamers around the world. Mafia II is rated M for Mature by the ESRB is currently available worldwide.

I liked Mafia II, but it lacks plenty of stuff, this DLC shows they could've added nice side missions, but didn't care. So well said, GTFO 2K Games, this is robbery.

There must be a competition between publishers to see who can take the piss the most.

Yea, given that the game is fairly short this should have been on the disc, or at least free.

2K is not looking good at the moment..

The writer and director of Mafia left the team, a petition has started where people ask for the complete version of Mafia II, with the 'cutted' content. I can see why....

Don't be silly they are both open world, third person shooters. A comparison is completely legitimate.

they get away with it cause people keep buying the add on packs / cut from the game packs.what will be even more funny is if the pack is a few mega ;P and everything was on the game from get go. The golden years of gaming have gone...... now its the premium years.

It should be taken into consideration, that a game is often out of the hands of the developer long before it reaches the store. Things like new content can in many cases not be added eaven after late beta and such.
Still i really get your point here. It is of course a sell strategy in many cases as well, DLC does earn a lot of extra money. I just guess we have to get used to this now a days, game companies also needs some green to survive :) just like cows.

Just wanted to state this, have been lurking around here a long time and often seen these comments. I do not oppose them, just wanted to add this fact into the mix.

Cheers

I'm usually the first to complain about this type of DLC(Too early), but for some reason i'm actually looking forward to this. It's probably because once the story is over your pretty much left twiddling your thumbs.

This DLC prolly should have been included in the retail game, but i felt satisfied by the main story. My main issue with Mafia 2 is that once the story's over, there's literally NOTHING to do. I guess you can hunt for all the Playboy mags, but that's not much fun imo. Some side quests, or activities similar to GTA, or SR would have been a welcome addition.

10$ seems pretty fair for 30+ missions. I just hope the missions are as well done as the the main story missions were.

Like KORNdog states, people were hyping this to be the GTA IV killer it never would be. People have been giving GTA IV a hell of a lot of shit and at the same time been praising this game for the past 2 yeasrs even though they never even touched it, claiming it to destroy GTA IV etc etc. I'm just poking some fun at those people.

Also, the whole point of a comparison is that you use 2 different games. There's no point in comparing the same game with itself. ;)
