Bioware yesterday released a new piece of artwork from Mass Effect 2, set to be released early 2010. Included is also an artwork released last week, showing a location very similar to one from the first game.

Wonder what the origin of the space-station (ship?) in the second one is. Its reminicent of the Citidel to me.
Also, its odd that the bar has a red theme to it. Surely that'll just increase the likihood of your customers getting angsty (passionate colour and all that?)
O...M...G!!!
2010 is just so damn far in light-years... : (

I can't wait. Mass Effect is one of my favorite games ever.
Damn with the artworks though! I mean, yes, their awesome and all, but I wanna see how the game is lookin, I'm hoping they will add lots of new features to the engine. ME2 would be a good game to release a tech demo trailer of... Yum.
I'm really looking forward to the sequel, but there's just so much room for improvement...I really hope they get it right this time!
I was not joking.
X)
;o)
Does look very nice but that was never one of this game's problems, hopefully they correct what was broken with the gameplay this time.

I think the game was pretty much perfect aside from the bland and repetitive sidequests, bioware could learn alot from bethesda when it comes
to sidequests, mass effect had the best main quest i have ever seen but
fallout 3 had the best sidequests i have seen in any rpg.
ME was the only RPG that I've played through multiple times, and despite some problems (Elevator of Death, repetitive environments) still just blew me away with the story and customization.
ME2 scares me because I don't see how it can live up to the promise of running off my ME1 save file(s). For minor plot points (did you save or kill the lady mob boss, did you sell the data to the ShadowBroker or tell him to get bent, etc.) then I can see alternative paths being workable. But in terms of the ending, the two basic options are so radically different that I just don't see how they can create a game that could go forward from either result -- it would essentially have to be two seperate games, with no possibility of melding into one.
If they do that (a "renegade" and a "lawful" plotline), the game's going to be half size -- and I'm going to feel ripped off. If they force one or the other as the "canon" ending, (again) I feel ripped off.
Crossing my fingers, but deeply worried they won't be able to pull it off.
The Lens-Flare have the anoying bug that they don't stop when something is between you and them.
Hell... there are 2/3 proper sidequests, then there are 10 clones of each of them with no story whatsoever or proper reason to play'em.
Why don't you Unlock Biotics and weapons with classes?! one thing is to have them locked at the beggining, and you start with the 2 Types your Class permits, But you should Unlock them with XP by the end of the game or half the game. If you are only good with snipers, and shotgun/pistols don't have a proper crosshair, you just don't use them.
Makes little sense to "confine" the gameplay so much with the classes choice.
So, so much little things that can be easly ironed out. that's the reason its a Trilogy... the first is a little polished Gem.
The sequel is easly GOTY material pre-launch.
-The repetitive sidemissions, seriously.
-Lack of city-like levels. And even the Citadel is disappointing. It looks massive, but is rather small in terms of playable space.
-The lack of interesting powers. I found myself using just one or two..if any.
-Lack of proper progression and the satisfaction in it (thanks to overwhelming loot).
-Not being able to train all weapon classes is a cheap way of adding "virtual" replay value.
-The combat needs plenty polish. It's not bad, but there's much room for improvement.
-The game needs lots of polish in general, A LOT! Texture pop-in, crappy frame-rate, tearing, etc etc...
-The lack of livelyness and 'dynamicness' of the NPC's. Go to the Citadel, watch two NPC's stand there and stare at eachother without saying a word, come back after playing some missions...voila, still standing there without swapping a single word. I'm sorry, but that's pathetic.
-Scanning for minerals is lame.
-The Mako combat is boring, clunky and lame.
-Load times are horrible.
-Short Campaign. Sure, I could do every sidemission (which is basicly just the one, x50) and read every bit of info to stretch it a bit, but that's just not how it's done.
And I'd probably come up with another ten thousand things if I could remember them, it's been a while since I played the game.
-The Mako combat is boring, clunky and lame.
It really wowed me all the physics and destructible objects they had in the combat areas.
But oh well, like I said before, I played ME thru 6 times and even with all these technical flaws, mostly boring and repetitive side quests and space exploration, shallow character development, some cosmetic dialog options (leading to the same conclusion) and an completely unserviceable cover system it still was so well staged that I just got addicted to it.
If they manage to pull off the same in the second game I got nothing to complain… but still would be nice if they address some of the issues to make it even better ;D
Uhm… on the topic I like the art of Mass Effect a lot.
