Images PC Xbox 360 PS3

Rockstar has finally decided to release the first screenshots of Max Payne 3. We had already seen these pictures in ugly scans, so it is a pleasure to rediscover them in a decent quality. The third episode of the adventures of the most depressed cop in the history of video games is developed by Rockstar Vancouver (Bully), which raises some concerns about the fact that the series might head too far from its roots. However, the creators of GTA have rarely disappointed us so far, so let's keep faith for now.

I sure am. Rockstar + Rage engine + Great Franchise = highly potential greatness!

you can certainly tell it's using R*s Engine and that it's made by R* in general...but it looks pretty nice overall. although i kinda feel i've seen it all before...almost like they've taken max payne and turned into a generic third person cover based shooter....hopefully i'm wrong and its all sorts of awesome.

time will tell i guess.

Anyone else thinks these look too good to be true?

Vegetation looks better than Crysis Warhead, Uncharted 2 or RE5.

These images are meaningles until we see them in motion. Gameplay is what these games were about.

Looks absolutely nothing like a Max Payne game in any way. Seems pointless to use the Payne name at all.

On the one hand I'm giving R* the thumbs up and on the other I'm flipping them the bird.

I loved the atmosphere of the first and whilst I wouldn't want a carbon copy of the previous games, a part of me thinks they may have gone too far.

BUT, It does look great and I'm pretty confident it will be a good game. Plus I'm interested to see where they take Max.

So until I see the final game I'm going to try to keep my mind open.

Hmmm, Max has really let himself go :)

I'm somewhat cynical, no idea how they hope to get the Max Payne vibe in this scenario. Are Remedy playing any part at all in this?

Reminds me of The Rundown with Dwayne Johnson, except with a beer gut and a beard. I am too becoming a bit jaded of this whole American renegade tackling his demons in a barbaric, uncivilized tropical region.
It also looks a bit too much like Kane and Lynch...maybe because of the scars and the psychopath look on his face.
As for the gameplay; where could they go with this? The first two games were great TPS's and had nice gunplay from what I can remember...
Hopefully they won't just go with the remedial shooter conventions of just adding in cover based shootouts and whatnot. Meh... Maybe this franchise doesn't need a reboot. But hey, if they polish it enough to be a standout and make the storytelling appealing then it might be worth a rent at least.

Wow another western game where the main character has a shaved head. Is that the only way they know how to make edgy or angry. It's good to see Nathan and Sam Fisher decide to do their versions of attitude with hair.

The terrible thing is that this will no doubt be a good game that one shouldn't outright shun, but on the other hand it'll be so far removed from Max Payne that it is an insult to everything Remedy established and therefore it seems like an insult in itself to play this and send the message that Rockstar are doing the right thing.

Regardless of how good this game is I still won't feel that Max Payne 2 ever actually got a sequel, and then what's the bloody point of calling this Max Payne in the first place?
