Like most titles today, Metro: Last Light came out with a season pack we didn't know much about. Deep Silver unveils the first DLC to be released next week and tells us a bit more about its content. For more info and a few images, you know where to click.

Press release

Deep Silver today announced that the Faction Pack is set for worldwide release on Steam and Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network from Microsoft on July 16th, and will hit the PlayStation Network on July 16th in North America and July 17th in Europe and the rest of the world.

The Faction Pack includes three original single player missions, each casting the player as a different specialist from the warring Factions. Returning to some classic locations from Metro 2033, these missions feature new weapons, the return of a truly terrifying mutant foe, and offer three distinct gameplay challenges…

• As a Special Detachment Sniper of the Red Line, players must infiltrate a heavily guarded Reich Outpost at night, under the cover of a deadly radioactive storm…

• … before defending the Frontline as a Reich ‘Heavy’, armed with some of the most devastating weaponry found in the Metro.

• Lastly, players take the role of a Polis Ranger in training, tasked with exploring the vast Library complex for artifacts and relics. Salvage can be exchanged for ammunition, filters and hazard suits allowing ever deeper exploration into the Library. Rangers are advised to light torches and leave a trail of lights so they can find their way back to the base before their precious oxygen runs out…

More details on the other upcoming DLC:

• The Chronicles Pack will include new, original single player gameplay that expands on the Metro: Last Light universe and story.

• The Tower Pack will present a unique solo challenge to Metro veterans.

• Meanwhile, the Developer Pack will give creative players some interesting tools with which to explore the world of Metro…

Ah! Single player, single player! I love reading this. I wish f*cking Halo-4 would release some nice SINGLE PLAYER dlc, not limitless multiplayer shit.

After The Last of Us i feel so burnt out of post-apocalyptic theme, it's going to take a while to pick up this great game.

This was a lot better then the first game, thanks largely to a stealth system that actually worked. But much like the first game, it was pretty much ruined by the mutant based combat. The humans let you play how you wanted, all action, stealth kills, ghosting, etc. but mutants just run at you and the shooting wasn't good enough for that, not to mention it being boring. They should stick to the human story and the human enemies, it would have been a much better game for it.

Most impressive aspect of the game was that it looked so nice, despite being developed with a comparatively small budget and team. EA/ubi/sqeenix etc could learn a thing or 2. Maybe then we won't have rediculous sales expectations and stupid 100 million dollar budgets for game.

I also hated that we needed to keep finding filters which only lasted about a minute each. A couple outdoor levels became a struggle to rush through. Thus had to ignore my instincts to explore.

Its a survival action game, elements like that adds to the immersion.

You could say that. But I'd just respond saying it was a cheap tactic of immersion. We already have to worry about battery/ammo/mask it was lazy for them to add filters into it as well. Especially because it doesn't make sense that filters would only be a minute long, or you can't pick it up off a dead corpse (until the last couple levels where there is an overabundance as it is). But I was just stating the worst part of the game, most levels I really enjoyed. It was a very good game overall!

In the first one they lasted well over a minute, at least 5-10 minutes, are you exaggerating or do they srsly last 1 minute in Last Light?

They seriously last about a 1 minute each. So lets say you snoop around and find 5 of them, you are only getting about 5-8 minutes worth. But its only a problem on the two middle back-to-back levels in the campaign that take place outdoors.
Its a bitch especially when they have you pull a lever outdoors and then survive 3-5 minutes of infinite mutant attacks while waiting for a raft to come. They should leave a 3-5 minute filter next to the lever to account for that, but they don't.

15 years ago we were playing tetris.

Games are something timeless.

There is a time when you have to ask yourself wether you want to play a game for the graphics or if you want to play it for the game itself.

It is about a perception from the subconcious, but, I think you can enjoy the game for what it is, they are all unique, even the worst ones. So, definetly, yes, pick it up, you will enjoy it.
