Trailer PC PS4 Xbox One Xbox 360 PS3

It's now becoming a habit, but it's not one I'm ever going to get used to. Kojima Productions sent us the Metal Gear Online trailer (part of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain) shown first during the TGA last week. And of course the quality is off the charts :)

I hope they take stealth seriously this time. Because past MGOs have tried and failed making a competitive stealth multiplayer game and it just turns into a basic shooter.

The Mother Base invasions seem to make sense in terms of competitive stealth multiplayer. You have two players and loads of AI enemies. 1 player is invading and trying to reach the objective/take out the other player. The other is trying to look for the invader. Both would need to employ stealth.

But when you make it team vs team, it's very difficult to keep it stealth. Team co-ordination over online (especially with randomers) is very difficult. So in the end, it turns into everyone doing what they want including guns blazing through the map.

I wonder if they did anything with the hip-firing headshots from the last MGO, it was hilariously bad.

I have a feeling it will turn into the same type like previous MGO games, it really comes down to how they handle game modes. Like for example if there was a one life only per round like Socom, I guarantee you people will be pissed but it will make them take it more seriously, its a trade off basically. With out restrictions its hard to make people play a certain way. It didn't stop me though from playing stealthy. I remember hiding in a box in that long alley way of MGO2 and grabbing a player and stunning him, them playing dead next to him while one of his team mates tried to wake him up. I got up and instant put the other in a choke hold, knocking him out. I was able to get a few more players this way. LOL such great times!

I really hope they nail down on some of the odd choices that made this game not more acceptable then among the niche. Poor map layouts that involved easy spawn camping, 2 different Logins just to play, clunky controls and generic game modes and mechanics. Here hoping the LA branch that's making this, fixes these issues, some so basic it doesn't make sense how it even passed testing. I do admit I had fun playing the past MGOs but they had some major flaws like map design. Some maps felt like they were designed my inexperienced developers approaching map creation for the first time. Like little sniper spots right outside of the main spawn points of a team. Having another spawn point make you have to run through a narrow hallway that only fits one person that leads to an easy ambush and spawn camp, I remember getting like 5 easy kills in a row just waiting here; just had to peak around the corner with my camera aiming my shot without the enemy knowing I was even there. Sometimes with the poor animations people were literally running in a straight line, one or two burst shots would lead to 3-5 head shots easily...

They really need to fix their animations, things like being hit with an explosion and watching your character flail up and down for a few seconds not being able to move was frustrating. A long with the lag, so many time I would turn a corner and walk a few feet then die because apparently I was died before i even got to the corner to turn.

This is how you do a next-gen game. 1080p at 60fps with still great graphics, not 900p at 24fps with bugs and glitches. I'm looking at you Ubisoft.

I've come to expect nothing but the highest quality when it comes to making immersive and technically amazing computer games from Kojima Productions. When I bought the PS3, Metal Gear Solid 4 was the first game I played right through on that system. Metal Gear Solid 5 will be the first game I'll play on the PS4!

Unity seems a mess and rushed out game but although MGSV will play smooth it gfx are not top tier.

Not my favorite gameplay for multiplayer third person shooters, but as an whole I did enjoy MGS4 online. Its the kinda of game you can see the effort from developers to deliver a solid and durable experience. The bad part is, I still think Konami guys need to step their games up in the animations department. I already thought last gen, and now becomes even more noticeable.

PS: I might be the last guy in the world who still thinks animations are way more important than a lot o things in third person games, including graphics ;(

Finally I've been waiting for this!
I hope we can explore mother base entirely unlike in peace walker where we only have the upper view and also use the recruits for MGO perhaps? lol

The only thing that concerns me about this multi player is that teleport feature. Nothing would annoy me more than having an enemy in my sights, then all of a sudden he teleports out of harm's way. Folks will spam the shit out of that. That will take corner camping to the next level.
