Warner Bros. has announced the definitive edition of the fighting game from NetherRealm Studios. Coming on March 1 for PS4 and Xbox One, Mortal Kombat XL contains all previously released downloadable contents as well as the upcoming Kombat Pack 2.

Interactive Entertainment today announced Mortal Kombat XL, the definitive experience of the award-winning, hit Mortal Kombat X videogame, which was the best-selling game in franchise history and recently named the Best Fighting Game by The Game Awards 2015. Developed by NetherRealm Studios, Mortal Kombat XL will be available in North America beginning March 1 for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One.
Mortal Kombat XL offers the ultimate Mortal Kombat X experience that includes the main game and all content featured in upcoming Kombat Pack 2:

This is better for me, I can easily trade my old copy for the new one or just buy it to have it Komplete.
As for MKX i think it's the first MK game that starts getting close to a good fighter. There's still some kinks to iron out but for a fighter from the US? Pretty damn good. Personally i hate the x-rays, finishers and breakers, other than that it's fun.
