Xbox 360

New week, new batch of Famitsu Weekly Dead or Alive 4. Without Team Ninja it seems no one would know that Xbox 360 will be released in Japan in about one month. Scary.

Satoshi's right. He's developed on both the PS3 and 360. He knows what he's talking about.</sarcasm>

Dude if you think this isn't next-gen, you're clueless. Check out the side-by-side comparison I made here ----> http://doalive-club.1up.com/

Satoshi's IS right.

he is, i expect alot more from a so-called super console, ive seen Segas VF5 run in realtime (At the Sega's showing in the arcade convention ex) and it trumps all over DOA4, and (VF5) runs on less powerful hardware ..

Glad i havent pre-ordered a 360... its games are looking so-so... seen it all before ect, ect.

That river level has got to be the most beautiful enviroment I have ever seen! Absolutely stunning.

I wish I could say the same for the character models though. Seriously, where the **** is my self shadowing!? This is next-gen dammit!

I've come to the point where I sort of agree with this.
Although, the characters still look great.

The characters have always been and always will be anime styled. You can't expect every game to have the same art direction or it'd be boring that way. For example, do you think a next-gen Katamari will feature realistic looking character faces and such? Any developer can grab a human model and scan his/her face into the game (which is what developers of Madden 2006 for the Xbox 360 have done) and apply skin textures. It's not hard to do and the 360 can handle it. Just don't expect Team Ninja to change the series art direction because of it.

If you want realistic character models, there's always sports games and such. The DOA series isn't supposed to look realistic. It's supposed to look beautiful, and it succeeds greatly.

Yes, it's Muramasa. I thought the guy would be dead by now. He was over 100 years old in NG. =P

the art excuse is weak...just look at doa cg....the kind of shaders used for those chars skin, are now feasible in real time....self shadowing, per pixel lighting, full scene motion blur....way more complex chars....everything is feasible...but probly,to have the game ready....they dropped the purpose of a whole different gfx engine...
damn....even the animation look the same as the previous doa game since doa2....

yep, animation is exactly the same, still does not match the animation of VF4 evo, nevermind VF5..

Notice how most parts of the clothes are 'stuck' to their bodies and the bits that are 'loose' dont even move in a realistic manner nor do they create individual shadows on the charators bodies..

When i saw VF5 in real time first thing i noticed was how awesome AKIRA's Gui moved.. seemed to move individually from his body and even casted realtime shadows on his body too.. it looked awesome.. crappy quality, but u can see the realtime clothes shadows : http://games.kikizo.com/media/virtuafighter5_sep05...
DOA4 dosent do this Kind of S$%t.. its still back in the last generation as far as charator models go..

Backgrounds do look nice tho.

Animation is still the same? Have you even seen it running, let alone played it?

I do prefer the VF5 character models, even if the hit detection is off at present (given the few gameplay clips I've seen), but Doa currently seems to have better overall graphics.

Well, if you want to compare DOA4 to VF5, don't forget to mention that every VF5 arena is small and ring-out. On the other hand, the environments in DOA4 are huge, interactive, and multi-tiered. I think VF5 looks like shit compared to DOA4. It's purely subjective. I find environments much more appealing that characters personally!
