Video Xbox One

It took us a while but we finally managed to capture a bunch of videos of Killer Instinct on Xbox One. Although the game runs natively at 720p, we recorded our footage at 1080p, thanks to the console's efficient upscaler. Don't expect to see marvels here, I asked a friend of mine to play with me and he turned out to be an even worse player than I am. Enjoy the videos anyway!

This is why I love going on this site. This footage is better than anything else I've seen, including from Microsoft itself. Which is kind of sad, really.

Great stuff.

Because most of Microsoft's footage of their Xbox One games since 21st May have been 720p videos and if they weren't high quality videos from Xbox Wire then they were awful Youtube videos, Gamersyde can confirm this too. I guess we all know now though why they were at this resolution.
And now the Quantic Break trailer from VGX has been put up only on the Xbox Youtube channel at the same resolution.
As much as people gave out about Sony's amazing 20th February Next Gen reveal, at least all the trailers were released at 1080p and in the highest bitrate quality on Press Sites.

Shame this game has stiff animations all round.

This game could so easily be ported to the 360.

Looking at it, and taking into account the resolution it runs it, it wouldn't surprise me at all if this game was ported over from the 360 and they jazzed it up a little by throwing in some of the nice particle effects, because apart from that, there's nothing there that suggests a 360 couldn't handle what's on display. Why this game isn't running at 1080p is baffling, and nobody try to say it's because the XB1 can't, please.

Right. They could have run it at 1080p, given the same level of effects and performance. They just decided not to.

Looks like a fighter of old. Looks decent. But 360 would struggle with this.

Heck there's slowdown in some of those videos.

Yep, I agree. I play fighting games and guys fyi all fighting games on PS3/360 were already 720p @60fps; Blazblue series, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Street Fighter 4, Tekken Tag 2, and even the 2 on 2 Street Fighter X Tekken with multi-tier stages and on the fly switch in's on characters! The only thing is maybe the crazy particle affects couldn't be done, but other than that I could easily see this on PS3/360. Seems like Microsoft were desperate to have a cult favorite exclusive game, but little did the Killer Instinct devs. know they would be thrown into a cubical with little resources, time and money to do a proper fighting game.

Even if this game came in 4K res it'd still look shite and play shite. This game easily takes the prize for worst fighter ever made in my book. Id rather choose Clay Fighters over this. Awful.

Troll. The game is actually super solid, which I really wasn't expecting. You can even do a legit jump in crossover and combo out of it, ala Street Fighter. It's incredibly well done in the gameplay department.

A weak GPU is a weak GPU. Nothing will magically change that. I'm sure the games will improve over time as they do on each generation of hardware, but I don't think they will improve as much as the 360 did.

Not liked a fighter this much since Street Fighter was brought back to 2D, The game is outstanding...Such a shame we have very little characters.

Hopefully we get a Killer Instinct 2 with at least 16 fighters!

Seriously, how can something that looks like it can be ran on a 360 with the same performance and resolution not be pushed beyond that level of performance on a gpu that is what, at the very minimum 2 or 3 times more powerful than the one found in the previous generation? This game is pushing nothing. The only indication it's even on a next gen platform is the particle effects and maybe, maybe, some prettier shaders. That's it. We'll see a fighter on this platform that will eat and shit this visually with a higher resolution. That is not to say the game looks bad in the first place. It doesn't.

I think Microsoft have really dropped the ball this time round. I love my 360 and it's given me many years of great gaming experiences; the Mass Effect Trilogy being the best of all IMO. A real shame.

Game is great. Plays great, dare I say better than the old game, since this game is actually competitive and less cheap. Game looks great and until I start seeing last gen 3D fighters that look as good and run as fast with as good net code, I'd say it deserves the praise and not the blatant trolling people are doing.

"Lazy developers"???

"They just decided not to do it"?!?!

WTF?! Do you think people decide to slave away under stress and pressure, doing 14 hour days 7 days a week and "just decide" not to do something that would make their game "better" to "some people"?! If you do, then you've really got A LOT to learn.

I don't know why the game runs at 720p / 60fps instead of 1080p, but maybe because it would've been 1080p / 30fps and that would've been unacceptable? Maybe because the developers only had a year to make a world-class fighting game with a tiny crew (read the credits) and hardware that wasn't finished?

I don't know, but I'd say my speculating is probably closer than the clear troll hate of "lazy" and "this is teh wurst g@m3z evar!"

Game is great and I'm happy to have a rock-solid 60fps fighter for the cost of dinner, on my next gen hardware.

Only problem I have with it is that the roster is small (but they say they're doing more) and that I can't get it on PS4 too.

Yeah anyone that accuses the devs of ANY of these launch titles of being lazy are just a bunch of sad and clueless idiots. These people put in a lot of long hours and pulled off a pretty amazing launch lineup on both new consoles all things considered. Some of you guys need a reality check.

They could but at what expense? Let's be honest you saw what Turn10 did just to get Forza to be 1080P and run at 60fps. Little to no Tessellation on mountain sides, Flat 2-D digitizes pictures of the same people for road side fans, etc.

Yeah hardly lazy devs. Its a launch title..all launch titles are gonna need compromises that's usually down to unfinished hardware..rather than lack of power of that hardware.

Nobody would turn their nose up at a 1080p patch though would they?

I also agree that its a shame it didn't hit the 360 too..although for the lure of an exclusive it makes sense its on xboxone..it's certainly the only game at the moment that i'd truelly love to play on the platform

The fighting mechanics looks more solid than i expected. Perhaps not the strongest art in a fighting game, and the models feels a bit last-gen.

Also, no platform exclusive talkback without hardware dissing and admins trolling their own site :D
