Video Xbox One

After giving Xbox 360 and PC owners a taste of survival instinct, State of Decay is about to come back on Xbox One in a sort of GOTY edition including all the major addons of the original game. Undead Labs' title will also feature new challenges and achievements, new equipment and a lot more things, along with the 1080p resolution you'd come to expect. State of Decay: Year-One Edition will be available next week for $29.99/€29.99 but if you own the 360 version already you'll have a 33% discount and access to an exclusive new character. Moreover, provided you have uploaded your original save on the cloud, you'll also be able to continue where you left off. Enough chit-chat, time to check out our four gameplay videos inside.

I read in some reviews that the technical issues haven't really been tackled. What the hell man.

My guess? Easy port from the PC version, which was also an easy port from the 360 version. ;p

Ah, kinda a shame though. It looks decent though, judging by these videos. Can't say the same about the 360 version. ;)

Never bought it because the animations were horseshit and I couldn't get over that during the entire game. It's shallow but it was game-breaking for me.

The unique features this game has are pretty interesting. Now that it has some acceptable graphics and "stable" framerate I'll eventually play it when it's real cheap, or even when they "offer" it with XBL Gold.

Thanks for the vids, davton

This was a great game, such a pleasant surprise. If they made this game combining the combat system from The Last of Us with the detail and graphics of GTA I think they would have a true winner

I would say if you are remotely interested in this game, give it shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Although I bought the PC version on Steam about a year ago, it was one of the best games I have played in recent years. Normally, I'm a bit of a graphics whore, but this game has so many great features that I didn't even think twice.

If you are at all a fan of old school games with lots of depth where actions actually had consequences, you will really enjoy this. I would have to say the leveling system and permadeath of main characters are my favorite features and really make this title stand out. You really feel certain characters getting stronger and more proficient and able to handle themselves the more you play with them. That doesn't mean you are invincible though, and I can't tell you how hard it is when you lose a main character for good because of a stupid mistake (it will make you learn and remember those moments more than any other game though). I still remember certain main character deaths like when I was ripped in half in a warehouse after not checking my surroundings during a run, or showing up to help a mate who called for help just in time to see them get devoured because I took my sweet ass time. It's the unscripted moments like these combined with the fact that you can't just hit reset upon death that make this the best zombie game of all time imo.

Overall, I can't recommend this title enough (as fugly as it is), and I wish more developers would make titles like this!

So if it was an absolutely astounding game by the likes of Naughty Dog and Rockstar Games, it would be a better game? Couldn't we say that about every game ever, especially this one?
Also, Jesper Kyd does the music for this game. That alone makes it better :)

Thanks for the review! I'm much more interested than before.

I'll definitely get it when it's cheaper, then.
