Hardcore mode is what the whole game should have been, OFP 1 has always been a military simulation and although they do deliver this hardcore mode in OFP2, there's still some issues that suppress the "realism" this time like the Night vision goggles that make enemies light up?

I understand that they want to appeal to a broader audience this time around but I can see some of the traditional OFP players getting pissed off..

Looks okay to be but weapon sounds seem to be on the weak side... the assault rifles sounded more like a damn typewriter.

The video was decent, until he said 'you better be careful' at the end.

Cringeworthy or what? lol

Better graphics than Arma2, runs better, better interface, better controls, better sound quality, what more needs to be said?
Sometimes, a change in developers doesnt matter (as the previous Operation Flashpoint devs moved to ArmA), having a high enough budget to make a genre justice does. Something ArmA simply cannot.

Its the sad truth. No wait it isnt sad for US, we get better games ^_^

I'm really hoping that this game comes out good. It should be one of those games that would really be an amazing experience in co-op with a mate over Live and worth buying for alone. I think it'll be difficult for the devs to nail the console versions, because this sort of game is notoriously better suited to the PC.

@FIREWIRE- why would they be pissed off? As long as you have the features you want, why not open it up to more people through accessability. It makes for better sells, and that means more support. It's not like they will be playing the hardcore mode before they get the hang of it. IMO, this is the best way to do it- have a simpler mode to get people into what is a very daunting play style, and have the real immersion and depth for those that want it to.
I just hope there is a way to set up training scenarios so you can practice tactics with your teams. YAY.

consoles been in mind from the start, so should be pretty streamlined to fit - use of wheel selection ect.
I think that was all 360 footage so it looks like you'll be able to issue commands on the fly simply enough.

I just really hope for 2 things... 1) they have the mission editor in it lke the first. 2) they have civilian cars to drive. I wanna take on a tank with a ford escort again.

People really, really, REALLY need to know what they're talking about before they ignorantly criticize something. Those aren't night-vision goggles the player is using; that's a thermal-vision long-range scope attached to his rifle. THAT'S why the enemies are "lighting up."

The developers have put a ton of effort into making everything as authentic and realistic as possible with this game.

Plus, the hardcore OFP fans you speak of are giving tons of input and feedback to the developers of this game as we speak, as you would see at the Codemasters forums.

When did they release a demo? Or are you referring to the one's they had at E3 and the game shows that are many builds old? I'm curious because I can't wait to try the demo!

lol better than arma2? dont know, but arma2 on my pc running properly set up (finally got it >40fps) and the games beautiful, opf looks a bit more polished but i'd really have to see if the community on opf2 stays, because alot of people that loved opf followed the dev team to arma2.

(i hate arma... i f*cking played for 3 hours last night and died 20 minutes in every time, damn AI snipers somewhere on the map keep killing me, i feel kinda bad for sacrificing my AI teammates to the slaughter)

You are correct, but thermals don't make everything go: warm = white, cold = black.... It has variations... A person behind a wooden "wall" still lights up, even behind brick walls.. Now it's:
"Hey, a tank, let's make it totally white..."
"Hey a guy in a building, he's infront of the window: WHITE. He dodges behind the wall; GONE"

I am regularly checking the OFP forums and I know about the feedback... Let's say I'm sceptical about how well it's going to be implemented....

That's not neccesaraly true. Even the clothes you wear can "dim" your signature. I think you would hard pressed to see someone behind a wall( maybe in movies). Having used thermal sights myself, It's pretty easy to obsure your heat sig. I'd say the guy in the window is pretty acurate, however, the overall look isn't quite right because everything has somekind of heat signature.

That is true but it also depends on how far you are away from the target...
