GSY Video PC PS4

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was released yesterday on PS4 and we can show you a few minutes of gameplay footage, with more to come tomorrow. The game is now running on Unreal Engine 4 and while it looks quite nice the performance on PS4 could have been better, especially during fast camera movements.

Is it just me or does this look even better than the PC version.
These visuals are incredible, photogrammetry looks promising for the future can't really be used for dynamic objects and lighting but it makes rocks and buildings etc. look so photorealistic wish they would team up with Bethesda and do the graphics for Elder Scrolls 6.

That is because apparently the PC version was made on the Unreal 3 engine and the PS4 version was remade on the Unreal engine 4. There is a free update coming to PC though :)

Any one relayed the framerate problem to the developers?I want to purchase it at some point,with as few issues as possible.

Looks great...but fuck that turning. The video was enough to make me feel a little queezy, imagine how sitting down with it for a couple of hours would be. Shame, as it has some nice speed to the movement...not just plodding along. And i've heard it's a pretty interesting game. They just need to patch that.

Im going to have to agree.. i like the look of this. Framerate issues are bad tho.. but i will wait for the next few vids to be posted to make a call on a purchase.. sums up this console gen tho.. superb visuals + janky framerates or lower res + smooth fps.. and that goes for X1 and PS4!

Seeing this makes me want to play a REALLY good story-driven FPS with this kind of GFX...this feels more like a tech-demo...

Yeah after watching the other vids i think ill pass. Shame really.. its my kind of game but that framerate is appalling in places.

What a great game, I enjoyed it a lot! You should turn on the 100/200Hz mode of your TV if it supports that kind of feature... it helped a lot regarding the sometimes unstable frame rate.

Makes me wonder how big of a performance downgrade the UE4 version on PC will be.
Do you have time to run your framerate analysis tool on this?

Digital Foundry has an interview up with one of the devs and a comparison to the current PC build. In the interview the guy says they're going to patch in a frame rate lock option for the PS4 version of the game and are considering having the game default to that 30fps lock.
