Video PC PS4 Vita

Grim Fandango Remastered was released today on Playstation 4, Playstation Vita and PC and we were able to capture a few videos of the PS4 version for you guys. No need to present Tim Shafer's iconic adventure game, it is definitely a must-have, even though this remastered edition sometimes feels like a lazy port. The image quality has been improved a bit, but the graphics are identical (which is fine for fans but might bother newcomers). Controls are similar to what can be found in Resident Evil Remastered as the game features the two very same control schemes. The main disappointment is that there is no real 16:9 support, which makes Manny look like a vertically-challenged fatso. Other than that, the game is fantastically funny and deserves all your attention if you've never played it.

This is easily one the most lazy "remasters" i've seen.

The game is a classic but this is just quick cash grab from nostalgic people. They've not even bothered to make it widescreen (16:9). So it has borders.

The backgrounds are all exactly the same static images, not even higher resolution or rendered in real time.

The polygon count on the characters is still exactly the same. Keep in mind the game is 16+ years old so it's a ridiculously low poly count.

Animations are the same as 16+ years ago as well. Feels like controlling a tank.

It's also buggy.

The price is high too. Don't waste your money on this.

Love the fact that they revealed this as like E3 or something like a big thing at Sony's conference and then it's basically just Grim Fandango running in dosbox. I lel'd. What a piece of garbage.

Really shows what a bunch of incompetent and lazy bunch of twats double fine have become. I strongly regret backing Broken Age.

It's very sad how much of a missed opportunity this is, to truly get it right! Anyways, $15 to replay a game I love with better character textures - fuck, I guess you got me.

this is the exact reason why SE will not do a remaster of FFVII.

im so glad this has not been changed that much, as the original wont run on my PC i can now play it all over again, the game didn't require that much just a few cosmetic touch ups and that's all as the core part of the game is still there and feel's just as fresh as it did over a decade ago, i can use DSR to bump the res up to 4k and down sample making the game look even better.

Yes it does, just run it in dosbox. If you have the original, what's the point of buying this?

Dude, wtf i know. I never understood why the crowd at e3 went all crazy. I knew it was going to be a crappy cash grab. Just not this bad. The guy in the first post tears this shit to shreds. How anyone who comes here and reads that would buy this would be beyond me.

There's a significant (if slight) boost to image quality & lighting. And you don't have to use DOSBox. And, ya know, a lot of people don't own the original. It hasn't run correctly on modern systems for over a decade, and has been difficult to find as well.

I would have bought the original without enhancements on GoG or Steam. And for $15. You could easily pay more for the original release on eBay, and this version will run on modern systems. With better textures. With better image quality. With a great developer commentary track.

It's not like this thing is expensive.
