Ubisoft formally unveiled Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake during its digital event. Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai are working on this remake of the 2003 title and the Prince will return January 21 2021 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. First screens and trailer after the jump.
(Re) Discover the Prince’s Journey with the Classic Tale that Redefined Action Adventure Gaming
Starting January 21, 2021, the game will be available for $39,99 on PlayStation®4, Xbox One family of devices, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store on Windows PC and UPLAY+, Ubisoft’s subscription service.*
Developed by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is Ubisoft’s first ever full-scale remake, with a fresh approach to combat, puzzle solving and rewinding time. The new design, made with updated technology for today’s gaming systems, include new camera angles and fully remade sequences. Additionally, players will get to see a beautiful and fully reimagined ninth-century Persia through the eyes of the developers in Pune and Mumbai.
Relive the Prince’s journey for redemption after unwittingly releasing the Sands of Time on the Sultan’s Kingdom. As with the original, players will embody the heroic Prince alongside the daughter of the Maharaja, Princess Farah, as they navigate the palace, battle sword-wielding enemies, maneuver trap-filled rooms and ultimately confront the evil Vizier, who controls the Sands of Time. Players continue to progress as they combat enemies and master the art of parkour. Yuri Lowenthal returns, reprising his role as the Prince’s original voice and motion capture actor and players will be introduced to actress Supinder Wraich, who now plays the role of Farah.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake includes the original Prince of Persia game originally released in 1989, which can be unlocked during the Prince’s journey.
Players who pre-order the game will have access to the Back to the Origins set, which includes:
• The Original Prince outfit from the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
• The Prince’s Original Weapons set
• A Classic Filter that changes the look and feel of the game on the screen, just as if players were playing the game back in time

I love the original in spite of the combat being shit and repetitive, with some fights being very unfair because the game demanded from you something the combat couldn't give. I got to a point, that I just left the game at that and only completed it many years later.
And it still is a great game because it has one of the best stories in gaming, with excellent characters, narrative and character development - The way the prince's selfish and arrogant personality caves and turns to a selfless and caring one, even going so far as... stopping here because of spoilers. The story is fucking brilliant!
The game deserved better. Like many people on Eurogamer, ResetERA, Reddit and YouTube have said, after so many high quality remakes like Shadow of the Colossus, Resident Evil 2 and 3, Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, Spyro Trilogy, Crash Team Racing, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the upcoming Mafia 1 remake and Demon's Souls remake, to name a few, this seems like the worst remake ever made.
Some people are even calling it the first ever "demake", because the original looks miles better. Sands of Time deserved a better treatment, I can't even take the game seriously every time I see these awful character models. I hope people at Ubisoft actually listen to the feedback and redesign the characters' models. There's still time to do it for the in-engine cutscenes and gameplay, maybe even for the CGs. That's the hope, because as of now these are extremely horrid characters.
That aside, its still a improved Sands of Time, a Masthapiece better than any Sony game lately, so a must play.
