Trailer Xbox 360

The second (and last) downloadable episode of Alan Wake will soon be available to all on Xbox Live as the release date has just been revealed. On October 12, you will be able to spend a bit more time with the now famous writer, and it will only cost you 560 Microsoft points. Needless to say it is a very small price to pay to enjoy some more psychological-thriller action. Images and trailer inside, and remember that it is not a lake, it's an ocean.

wont be getting this. the main game was repetative and dissapointing (awesome ltd edition tho), and while the free add-on content was more interesting to play, it was essentially a massive recycling of assets. just not worth the asking price. they should have all been free imo.

they need to take the awesomely fast and fluid cotnrol scheme used in the game, and apply it to something...well, better. i'd love a new resident evil to control like this.

Dude, come on. Judge for yourself. Have you never enjoyed a game others shunned and vice versa? I can say for myself that I did and I'm just getting this game 'cause it's dropped to a decent price. Sure it ain't a perfect game but it's not crap either.

I'll counter-point "negative Nancy" Korndog, by saying Alan Wake will blow your mind with the narrative moments. If you liked the nightmare bits in Batman AA, then you'll love it here. So much attention to detail, and the combat always offers a dance-like rhythm with the different tools at hand.

Also, long game. Full of memorable setpieces and unique interactions.

Oh, and it's better designed than Dead Space, also one of my favourite games.

I'll have to disagree. Dead Space is freaky as hell. Alan Wake not so much. But Alan Wake is still interesting nonetheless and is at bargain prices at places.

awesome game. Stunning looking. I just wish they had offered the complete story on the retail disc...or offered both dlc episodes for free.

Obviously they thought they'd be milking this throughout the year..i know they definatly planned more than 2 episodes. Makes me wonder just how complete the story will be...and if we'll ever see an Alan Wake 2.

im sorry but for anyone to say this game is bad really needs checking. Yeah, some elements can be repetative, but i found myself laughing at the beginning at the fact the dude "kills" with a torch....

..... yet half way through i found myself needing new underwear because my torch ran out of batteries :|

atmosphere in this game is perfect, so is the voice acting and character expressions. This was a game i forgot about until release, and ive kept it ever since.

For such a short game, its embedded in my mind as a great original!

I hope you are joking about character expressions. That was one of my main beefs with the games, the fact that facial expressions were poorly animated. Remedy said they would improve on it for the DLC but I didn't notice any change. The atmosphere is quite good though.

Yeah, Facial animations in AW are absolute shit, and that's kind of a big deal when you want to people to think of them as humans, lol. Amazing game anyway though..

Well i'll buy it then, i'm after something reminiscent of Silent Hill 1 tbh and this going by the videos and piccy's might fill the void.

@SangHee So your saying that everything in life you have gone for even though a friend might of said it's tripe or not worth buying? That's why we come to forums to see what others feel or think about something be it a new album to the latest Hollywood film ;)

much worse. they look like thunderbirds puppets in alan wake when they speak.

if you're looking for a silent hill-like experience, alan wake really isnt it. it's not scary in the slightest, doesnt have any puzzles, no real boss battles worth mentioning, ammo is thrown at you left right and centre so tension is lacking. it's a thriller that plays like a third person shooter. if that sounds good to you, go for it, it's very cheap afterall. i bought it full price, and by the 3rd hour of the 8 hour compaign i'd gotten sick of doing the same thing over and over. the lack of enemy variety didnt help matters. nor did the uninspired and repetative way it sets up encounters. for the price tho it's probably worth trying out. i'd be interested to see what they did for a sequel, and to see what the hell is going on story wise, but im not sure if they're doing one since the first game didnt do all that well??

Mass Effect 2 has very good facial animations...

Mass Effects facial animations are not as good as the animations in Uncharted, but they are for example much better than the facial animations in Assassins Creed 2....

Agree. One of the best storys so far but i would have liked some more daytime sections and better puzzles.
Maybe have Wake trying to investigate whats been happening in the town for the first chapter or 2 and then have his wife go missing and just carry on from there.
Still the game gets a lot of unfair hate. Name me one game thats NOT repetative?

Cant wait for this and i really hope we get a AW2 in a year or so. Just advertise it next time MS.
