It's coming finally ! Famitsu just revealed a lot of informations about Lost Odyssey, the game engine, the combat system and the playable demo, as well as an awesome screenshot. See more in the news.
Update : Full scans added!
The game engine will run at 30 fps, and the character models for the movies are almost identical to the realtime models, which have been checked closely by Inoue, the character designer. We also learn the game will use a command menu driven interface for the combats, we'll get the powers of any enemy defeated, and there'll be no game over, as the main character is immortal. At least, a few words about the demo. It will be available in Japan in early November, it will last about one hour and won't feature anything but the most basic parts of the combat system. No character growth system as well. We can't wait to grab you videos of the game next week, at TGS.

Looks like a traditional turn-based RPG, which is cool IMO.
I think its more than traditional turn based sakaguchi mentioned something about controlling a movie action sequence or something like that. Either way I think we all know this game will look incredible in motion :D
Agreed about the high quality look on such a low quality scan haha, but wow, now im more excited! its no Final Fantasy (as in style) but its defintly something interesting! i defintly gotta check this game out and with Sakaguchi as the producer and Uematsu doing the music, man its gonna be a blast!

Looks like the later from this screen shot.
I havn't answered him yet,i still want more information... :P
Anyway, it's nice to know that it'll have interactive cutscenes. Love those. Maybe it's something like QTE's on Shenmue?
oh well! can't have it all my own way. Sure does look good though.
any one for a game of "Top Trumps" Japanese style?
I don't mind the 30 fps limit, because that looks good on some games.
"...the game will use a command menu driven interface for the combats"
Does this mean that it will be kind of like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game, were you choose what kind of attack you want and it will do it in real-time? Because if its like that then im all for it, better yet if its like turn-based/real-time action RPG game. But if its one of those "typical option driven hit A to attack and wait for your enemy to attack back" system, then no, I do NOT like it at all, kind of like Enchanted Arms.
And beside if the demo will come only in Japan, will it be on disc or marketplace?
I hope its both or just marketplace, I really want to download this game to see what kind of gameplay combat system it has.
