Video PC PS4 Xbox One Xbox 360 PS3

Warner released this long video Walkthrough of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, showing some strong inspirations from Batman Arkham Asylum, with a bit of Assassin's Creed too. Not the most straightforward blend of games, but it actually seems to work nicely.

Mordor's Creed :P

It was alright, nice character design, awesome wraith teleport attack and good setting and nice idea of open world...great graphics especially the physics.
But overal, i dont know what to think of it, its too "stealthy" for my liking, unless alternative video shows up showing combat approach.

Atleast this game has CROUCH button while in "assassins" creed, there is none lol

as i said over at gaf, it doesn't look bad, but it looks like such a "me too" stealth action game that i'm not sure i care enough to want to play it. i've played enough batman and assassins creed (even though black flag was pretty great) to know i don't want to play anymore batman and assassins creed games...wrapping it in a tolkien skin isn't really going to change my mind.

but the cloak physics look nice at least.

Yes it's copying Assassin's Creed 2, Batman Arkham City, and the Witcher..but that's a damn big improvement on how Lord of the Ring games usually are: hack and slack orc death simulators.

This is so retarded... Mordor's Creed... This is SO far removed from anything TLoR was supposed to be, it's a real shame people show any interest in it...
I really don't want to life on this planet anymore.

I must be the only one but I'm not a fan of the Batman style of combat, it just feels too much like quick time event vs controlling the action. Ok back to playing Dark souls

to be honest, all fanboys of Tolkien (and other fantasy universes) show one stupid thing: they shout "it's not a canon!". to hell with canon, books, films and games are alternative existences, they should not go along with canon, what this game brilliantly shows: plot happens in between Hobbit and LotR, but it's at the time a separate existence, alternative world, and it's good.

I for one am extremely happy it has NOTHING to do with the main heroes and villains we know from the movies, enough is enough.
Its like how i love the Old Republic era in SW than any of the movies (except Ewan as Obi Wan my top favorite), because new characters, new stories...etc. is always welcome.

It's called "doge" with an 'e', you barbarian!
Besides, I'm far from a Tolkien fanboy. I just respect his works for what they are. However, what THIS GAME is doing with the Tolkien myhtos is just a shameful cash-in, just like most big-games seem to do nowadays.
The thing I loathe about these kinds of games is there horrible 'style', the pathetic excuse of pseudo-gameplay, the bland graphic-porn, as well as super-repetitive/-easy/-stupified gameplay and the absense of any novelties, emotions or higher sense of immersion (the AC series is the worst contender in that category).

How do I know all that despite not having played the game?
Well, I have been playing videogames for more than 15 years by now so I should fucking know what the hell I'm talking about!!! It's the same old shit all over again since a very, very long time. The essence of videogames has stagnated and nothing will change about it if people continue buying trash such as this.
We'll never receive any gems anymore if people continue buying stupid cash-in trash such as this.

hoping this game will also feature some cameos from a lot of the more well-known Lord of the Rings characters

I think the success of this game will depend on how useful the Wraith system plays out. Reprogramming Orcs to carry out different missions such as to Spy or Sacrifice for you should only work if the right choice is made for a given task. I only hope they have not made the game too easy for the hero. I don't want six different ways to complete the same mission. Background info on the bosses should help in choosing the right path. If not, I should die.

This game has potential to do well. May pick it up if reviews are good.

I've been playing since 1974-5 and you are right in an over all stagnation outlook. I agree with many of your points. But some of these games appeal to different tastes is all. If it isn't for you, it isn't for you.

Believe it or not, there are people that would enjoy a "favorite universe" experience in any type of game. Meaning, AC, Batman Arkham gameplay in a tolkien setting and more examples of the like. Myself, I love to make my own characters in almost any gameplay type setting. A big turn off for me is playing a predetermined characters story. Not to say this is for all games. It isn't. I pick and choose based on many different factors.

Am I the only one who noticed the shimmering and jags in this walkthrough?
