SQUARE ENIX OFFICIALLY UNVEILS SHADOW OF THE TOMB RAIDER
Eidos-Montréal to Deliver Lara Croft’s Defining Moment

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 27, 2018) – Square Enix®, Eidos-Montréal™, and Crystal Dynamics® today revealed the full trailer for Shadow of the Tomb Raider™, the latest entry in the critically acclaimed and award-winning Tomb Raider® series. Created by a team of veteran Tomb Raider developers at Eidos-Montréal, in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, the game will be available on September 14, 2018 for the Xbox One family of devices, including Xbox One X, PlayStation®4 system and Windows PC/Steam®.

In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara must master a deadly jungle, overcome terrifying tombs, and persevere through her darkest hour. As she races to save the world from a Maya apocalypse, Lara will be forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be.

The star of the critically acclaimed 2013 Tomb Raider reboot and the award-winning Rise of the Tomb Raider®, Camilla Luddington, makes her return as Lara Croft® with yet another stunning performance in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

“Thanks to their incredible expertise, knowledge of the franchise and outstanding creativity, Eidos-Montréal, in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, is delivering a powerful experience with Shadow of the Tomb Raider,” said Yosuke Matsuda, president and representative director of Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. “Shadow of the Tomb Raider will take the series to new heights and Lara Croft to new depths.”

“Shadow of the Tomb Raider will challenge Lara Croft in new and unexpected ways,” said David Anfossi, Head of Studio at Eidos-Montréal. “Our team has created a diverse set of skills, combat techniques and equipment for players to master, and they’ll certainly need them if they hope to survive the deadly jungle environments and tombs.”

Last night, Square Enix welcomed fans, community leaders, press, and industry influencers to events in Montreal, London, and Los Angeles so they could experience Lara Croft’s defining moment as she becomes the Tomb Raider. Now, a wealth of information, screenshots, and more is now available at TombRaider.com.

Fans in the New York City area will be able to enjoy a Special Preview of Shadow of the Tomb Raider at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival on Friday, April 27. This free event will start at 4 p.m. EST, and will take place inside of the BMCC Theater at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center. Join the creative team as they discuss the evolution of Lara Croft and share in the techniques, tools and inspiration behind the series. Panel attendees will be able to witness an exclusive extended gameplay demo for the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider game.

Pre-orders are available now for the Standard, Digital Deluxe, Croft, and Ultimate Editions. For full details on pre-order items, the Season Pass, key beats in the upcoming campaign, and more information on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, please visit the official website and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Thanks a lot for the trailer and all the images!

SotTR looks great and I'm really digging all the environments and the tone of it, very dark and the CG trailer reminds me a lot of the movie Predator. Really intrigued by the insinuation at the end, maybe they will tackle what all the killing Lara has committed has turned her into. Something very few games deal with, the psychological aspect of so much violence and killing.

Now waiting for some gameplay and more details at E3 2018.

Ahh Tomb Raider, yeah 'Tomb' 'Raider' those two words. Name of the game and they happily lock you out of the Tomb Raiding in the Season Pass (7 Challenge Tombs with narrative side missions).

Like what the fuck?! Gosh I'm pissed sorry.

not going to be buying this after rise of the tomb raider was so disappointing.

i'll buy it when all the DLC and season pass content is released as a "complete" edition some time next year instead.

So you're saying that the portions of the game, that fans of the originals are most likely to be interested in, have been gated off behind a paywall, or as DLC?

Modern gaming in a nutshell, folks.

And seriously, fuck all these so called "editions" and all.

On the bright side, Jorah looks like he lost some weight. But will Lara even notice his slimmer figure? Hopefully these important questions will be answered in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

You'll have to pre-order for the special, deluxe, limited edition, super bundle pack to get that answer.

You definitely didn't read the press release, but are "pissed" at what? And for what?

Do you just simply know how many tombs there are in the final game?
Do you know what type of tombs will be those DLC tombs?
Do you know that the tombs in the DLCs will be longer, bigger and more complex than the ones in the final game?

To use your words:

Like what the fuck
...do you even know about this game?!

Here's the text you clearly didn't read or just ignored since it didn't validate your stupidity or "empty anger":

"In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara must master a deadly jungle, overcome terrifying tombs, and persevere through her darkest hour. As she races to save the world from a Maya apocalypse, Lara will be forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be."

Have you noticed the "overcome terrifying tombs" part now?

Stop being angry at the world, and specially, specially about a freaking game and for no reason. Wait for reviews and see if that's something you think you would enjoy or not, if not, you're not forced to buy it or even like it. But at least have the maturity, decency and respect to evaluate something after it's been released and you have seen much of what it has to offer before judging it.

looking good. don't know if the screens are from the console version. from the looks of it they're re-using the same Lara. which is a first, usually every TR game has a new model from scratch.

I was thinking Alicia Vikander was going to be the base model for the new game. either way, the ROTR Lara was pretty High poly. (120k) at least i know it's going to run smooth on my pc. I wonder what new features the PC version will have, and how much of it will land on XB1 and PS4-Pro.

Nixxes and Nvidia will once again handle the PC version, and will aim to maximize the performance of the GTX10 series GPUs.

"Nixxes Software will handle the PC version of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, will collaborate with NVIDIA"

"This effort will help maximize the performance benefits of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10-series GPUs for PC gamers across the world. "
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/nixxes-software-wil...

So i know for sure it's going to run smooth on my pc. I can't wait to see what other features this will support.

It's not whining when you now past facts - which publisher is behind it - just have a reality check and look back on the months before release of Deus Ex Mankind Divided and all the fiasco with it's preorder bullshit. You can't be just happy gamer accepting business practices that have just one purpouse to make as much money as possible. There's only one possiblity that you are completly blind and covering your ears.

I can but I don't need to explain anymore - but we'll definitely be sure after it will be out, but I don't like it and I stated my opinion.

Ohh and another little hint did you happen to see it's lovely Steam offer?
(I think it's also on consoles when you make digital pre-order).
For a limited time, receive the following with your purchase:

48H early access*
Steam Exclusive Wallpaper
Additional Skills Booster Pack

*48H early access only applicable to Digital Deluxe Edition and Croft Edition purchases
We (gamers) all know that these games (mutilated by publishers) are best enjoyed in a GOTY edition for a reasonable price - not for 89,06€ (my country price) as a pre-order for all digital stuff without any physical stuff.

Judging from the screen pics, do ya think Shadow of the Tomb Raider can even hold a candle to God of War in the graphics department? This is what we need to know...

you can't tell much from the screens. assuming it's like ROTR it's going to look pretty good. the screens show good water effects.

I have to admit after watching this game demo today called "Book of the dead"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oh6ietUfo_I

It sort of drowned out the hype i had for the new TR screens. as of yet Nothing really compares, unless you want to add FarCry 5..... well anyways, I know the new TR game is going to run good on my setup.

The murdering murderer returns for the last of her origin story. It makes THIS https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-06-13-lara... seem even more hilarious than it already was six years ago.
This reboot series in a nutshell, all over the place in tone with no actual great origin story to tell.

That seems to be the common complaint across the previews. Besides the painfully safe gameplay it seems it's the fact Lara seems completely unlikable and because the tone is so grimdark there's no room for any sort of personality or humour to bleed through. It's been the case since the start of this reboot series, but this one seems so focused on revenge it's lost any sense of actual adventure.

The series deserved better writers and cast. Sadly we're 3 games in and not much can change at this point. She's stuck being the angsty petulant girl with daddy issues and I'm not sure that's ever going to change.

What's worse is the news that came from these previews have basically confirmed we will never go back to the classic style and this is how Lara will be going forward. That's the most depressing thing about it.
