Trailer PC Xbox 360 PS3

Need for Speed: Shift has just been released in North America and will hit the European shelves by the end of the week. We will of course capture some direct feed of the game as soon as possible but to ease the pain of the wait, here are two new trailers presenting two famous tracks.
Update: Launch trailer added.

Drove the Nordschleife 3 months ago and this looks better than in any other game. Car handling is a different story though. I was there with a 335hp car and going full out but I have not been sliding and jumping around like in this vid...

This game handles great, with the wheel. Not sure about the controller.

Track detail looks awesome, but the car detail is average at best and the handling looks awful.

I debating if it's worth picking this up with Forza 3 coming out next month. I'd consider maybe picking up the PS3 version but I've only got a wheel for the 360. Hmmmm... any word on if there's a difference between the 360 and PS3 versions?

The PS3 version has framerate and aliasing issues relative to the 360 version apparently, so go for the 360 version.

I heard this in the Gametrailers video review.

its a great game. a blend of gtr and pgr.

my one gripe is the long load times on the ps3 version, and its installed.

Don't know, i am absolutly not excited about the game. Without cockpit view i would say the game is on the same level like GRID. Sure, tracks may have more polygons like Forza3/GT5(P), but the content looks ugly (bad color schema, very bad texture resolution), everything is blurry and the draw distance is absolutly horrible.
The cars also doesn't look exiting (except cockpit view) and are at best on the same level like Forza 2. But even Forza 2 doesn't have such very bad suared rims like SHIFT.

The main difference is the 360 version is darker. That is all.

Couldn't agree more, played it on the PC and GRID as a much higher video settings and details than this SHIT, the colors look like they give some kids a pack of crayola and say hey go play color.

The game is NOT very good at all. After playing for quite a bit now, I regret buying the damn game from all the hype. The graphics are merely OK, not as good as they seem on small internet vids. The car models are bad and the alaising is pretty messy.

Anyhow, for the important part, the GAMEPLAY is just not impressive in the least little bit. It's an OK sim/arcade mix, but compared to PGR it doesn't even come close, let alone a real game like Forza or GT. I would say it's about on par with Grid in terms of no weight and a generally generic feeling race experience.

So if you like shallow noob friendly arcade racers with a small hint of sim aspects, then this game might not offend you. But anyone looking for a game on par with the quality of PGR or GT, then you need to look elsewhere as this game has me so pissed I wasted money on it.

The cockpit mode is ok, but it's very overdone and really takes away from the actual driving experience. It's trying too hard to give you a sense of speed but for me it just simply feels forced and childish.

Anyhow, I'm just really letdown that it didn't end up being the next PGR game I was hoping for.

Oh well, at least I'll still have Forza and GT5. thank god.

Also, my hats off to Gamespot and Eurogamer for being honest enough to give this game a 7/10 and not buying into the hype. I'm so sick of EA hyping up games that do not deliver what they promise. I feel SOOOO stupid for expecting a NFS game to be so good. damn hype machine!

Another problem is the major glitch where in some races your car simply will not start. It's most common with the Corvette z06 but it happens with all cars from time to time. Only happened to me once but the tech forums have a lot of people upset about this problem it seems.

nietzsche, did you play it with the assists off?

thats how im playing and im completely hooked. i dont understand how the cockpit mode is "childish" either, the sense of speed and inertia is second to none.

id like to know what track racers you play that arent "shallow and noob friendly". play it on hard, without the assists, while trying to achieve each tracks goal and levelling up the precision style. it has plenty of customization for every car, and more depth in upgrading your driver than forza or gt.

i have to revise my statement from yesterday about the car handling after having played the game last night for approx 4h. Tier1 cars with around 250-350hp and the right settings (cockpit view, ABS on, stability off, braking/steering assist off, TC low) and it feels pretty close to the real thing. had some great 1on1 races with a French guy on the Nordschleife. Even the times were pretty accuarate to what i was doing there a few months ago IRL, high 8 and low 9 minutes laps. It for sure was good training for when I will go there again next year.
However, I didnt like the higher powered cars (Tier2,3,etc) they are IMO too twitchy and nervous, so I'm gonna stick with cars that have a performance rating of a maximum of 8 or 10.

Okay... what's more likely? That you're defending your favourite console, or that Gametrailers was paid off to lie in their video review? Yeah, I'll trust the video review for now.
