Need for Speed: Shift has just been released in North America and will hit the European shelves by the end of the week. We will of course capture some direct feed of the game as soon as possible but to ease the pain of the wait, here are two new trailers presenting two famous tracks.
Update: Launch trailer added.

I heard this in the Gametrailers video review.

my one gripe is the long load times on the ps3 version, and its installed.
The cars also doesn't look exiting (except cockpit view) and are at best on the same level like Forza 2. But even Forza 2 doesn't have such very bad suared rims like SHIFT.

Anyhow, for the important part, the GAMEPLAY is just not impressive in the least little bit. It's an OK sim/arcade mix, but compared to PGR it doesn't even come close, let alone a real game like Forza or GT. I would say it's about on par with Grid in terms of no weight and a generally generic feeling race experience.
So if you like shallow noob friendly arcade racers with a small hint of sim aspects, then this game might not offend you. But anyone looking for a game on par with the quality of PGR or GT, then you need to look elsewhere as this game has me so pissed I wasted money on it.
The cockpit mode is ok, but it's very overdone and really takes away from the actual driving experience. It's trying too hard to give you a sense of speed but for me it just simply feels forced and childish.
Anyhow, I'm just really letdown that it didn't end up being the next PGR game I was hoping for.
Oh well, at least I'll still have Forza and GT5. thank god.
Also, my hats off to Gamespot and Eurogamer for being honest enough to give this game a 7/10 and not buying into the hype. I'm so sick of EA hyping up games that do not deliver what they promise. I feel SOOOO stupid for expecting a NFS game to be so good. damn hype machine!
thats how im playing and im completely hooked. i dont understand how the cockpit mode is "childish" either, the sense of speed and inertia is second to none.
id like to know what track racers you play that arent "shallow and noob friendly". play it on hard, without the assists, while trying to achieve each tracks goal and levelling up the precision style. it has plenty of customization for every car, and more depth in upgrading your driver than forza or gt.
However, I didnt like the higher powered cars (Tier2,3,etc) they are IMO too twitchy and nervous, so I'm gonna stick with cars that have a performance rating of a maximum of 8 or 10.
