It's quite a big deal for Warhammer fans, today is the release day of the first action title of the franchise developed by Relic, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. If you are into ork meat, no doubt this game will satisfy your blood thirst. Quite different from Gears of War gameplay-wise, Relic's title puts the emphasis on melee combat and battles against a high number of enemies. Guns are still useful though, but don't expect to see any type of cover system here. Space Marines don't hide after all. The soundtrack of the game is immersive and actors such as Tom Strong deliver a good performance. Here are two videos to convince you of the potential of Relic's title.

What I meant was that it was Relic's first action game in the franchise. I should have made is clearer though. Since relic was not responsible for the two games you're mentioning, then let's just say I'm right. :D
I just got the soundtrack from Collector's Edition, sounds absolutely epic!
Composers to God of War games did it, expected nothing less, just great tracks.
Anyway, i wil get my coop fix with gears 3. Campaign with 4 people is going to be sublime. :)
I don't know, but that's how I see it. But I think it's a shame too. What I don't understand is that when I went to the game's presentation in Cologne back in 2010, the devs told us about coop. At least that's what I remember. Maybe I should check the article I wrote back then.

Anyway, there game will indeed have Coop, but it's "Horde Mode" coop. It works just like DoW2's The Last Stand mode, also by Relic. But it's coming later, in an October free patch.
Those other titles that you mentioned did come out, did get the standard coverage but where swept away in all of the other titles people prefered to buy/play.
The lack of coop is a bummer, and with Gears looking similar to the average console gamer its a no brainer that people will think thats a a huge flaw but then again who knows the sequels might have these things.
What is a bummer for me is the lack afaik of multiple race based storylines like in the Winter Assault expansion to WH40k Dawn of War RTS for PC, that was alot of fun to play as the different races and their points of view.
I am waiting on this one, I will eventually get it but just not now, don't have the money, probably maybe december, gotta get Resistance 3 Doomsday ed, Dragon Ball Ultimate Tenkaichi, Uncharted 1/2/3 and a few other games I missed like when I went to my friends house and saw him playing Yakuza 4, I was like dude I gotta get that too.
Spent my summer at the beach though so its not so bad.

As for the game, it totally rocks. Got it last night at midnight, pulled an all-nighter (only the second one that I have done all year - the first being for DXHR), and have been dead tired, but satisfied all day. Co-op, when it comes, will only make this better.
. . . now need to get my hands on Driver: San Francisco . . .
The co-op will be only in single player, from what I read.

Good if true though. :)

Holding my breath, holding, holding... *ggrgglll*
Like I said with those other WH 40k games that may have been released on portables or maybe as a DLC or something... I just never heard of them until I replayed Dawn of War I and Winter Assault last year (I bought that back in 2005) and was looking for a WH40k fix, you should know how even these gamer sites and game magazines cover videogames, I can probably gather cover art of print magazines and for some reason I bet that either Call of Duty, Halo, Gears and Street Fighter will be at the top of the list of games that gen multiple cover stories in a year, then again the process for a game to get cover art is funny, its either paid for or in rare cases actually deserved, I am still waiting to find a magazine that gave a cover art and article to Demon's Souls if you know of one tell me.
I watched the , GDC, CES, E3, GC, CC and eventually TGS and I can only budget monetarily and sensibly one to two games a month and I have taken a vow to actually complete everyone of them (and master the favorites) to avoid wasting money and time. I already missed around 5 to 8 games I wanted to buy new this year and am planning to buy them later unfortunately so I made my decision and like I said... unfortunately I got a little spoiled with the multiple races based single player modes of the RTS WH40k, I realize how a game is developed and how costly it can be and the unfortunate limitations of the hardware decisions, timing and human programmer limitations but Space Marines, although I am very interested in it, hence my posting here I have to decide but my single purchase is meaningless because I like what I like, I don't know how other gamers will react specially in what seems like yet another banner year of huge titles being released so close to each other including the Halo Anniversary, Rage, improved CoDMW which so far has humbled me, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3, Zelda Anniversary, holy crap I would not mind being like some of the spoiled gamers who have their mommy and their pappy or aunty buy them videogames.
Rest assured I will be getting this game some months from now as I don't like to borrow or even lend games (ok I actually lended out Resistance 2...for three months now) because even though your friends are your friends you never know how they take care of discs or return a coaster back.
I was also kind of disappointed with the little CGI film they did, I wished it would have been longer with more story and less humanity like us crap that almost made it cartoony, that WH40k is supposed to be a cultural shock like Dawn of War/Winter Assault was and specially for the space marines they are basically a species of humans that are definetly not like us, they live longer if they can thanks to the nanotechnology and avoiding getting killed and their mentality is very ffffed up (to us) in the sense that they really don't ask questions, don't trust the Xenos and will kill at any chance of a flinch that might be mistaken as presumed breaking of an alliance... basically "wait you are going right, you told us left, now die" lol.
