Video PC Xbox 360

Some players might not have noticed that, but your way to play the demo of Splinter Cell: Conviction is up to you. Whether it is more action or pure stealth, you decide. That's why Ubisoft has released two videos showing two different ways to broach the mission.

I haven't played the demo, but that looks pretty damn good.

I think cutscenes are your typical Ubisoft material (very cheap). Funny thing no one noticed this kind of stuff with titles like Assassin's Creed, but somehow I've seen this mentioned a few times about this game.

i did both lol :D i love this game, great graphics, great story and smooth gameplay. more importantly its fun to play rather then frustrating which most stealth games are (i am not a stealth game fan)

i would understand though if some SC fans arent happy as it doesnt seem as "hardcore" as the previous editions

this is supposed to be a stealth game , not an action game .
if you want a action packed game , then get modern warfare 2 or badcompany 2.
stealth games are art . ubi has dumbed and catered conviction down to the general masses , which isnt good .
1 or 2 stealth games are released every couple of years , they have ruined the best for the fans.
maybe 15-20 action games are released every year , conviction is now added to that list . its a sad day.

WTF, Chaos Theory could be an action game, too. Remember the "ASSAULT loadout"? Shotgun in that game, for goodness sake.

Who said it's supposed to be a stealth game? If games didn't evolve nobody would buy them anymore.

And by the way, Conviction plays nothing like MW2 or Battlefield. That's a ridiculous comment

Can they do a video without using the 'mark and excecute' feature? I'd be more interested in seeing that.

Still, I'm digging the demo. What some call 'dumbed down', I call streamlined.

*waits for someone to counterattack with "main-streamlined" woven somewhere in his/her response* ;)

Though I can see where they are coming from, I prefer this middleground Ubi have chosen now.

The visuals are fantastic, as I've always said. But, the aliasing on objects more than 20 feet away is absolutely horrible. Especially noticable on characters in direct light. It's a real shame. Also, the animations are extremely lacking. I can't believe how dated they look for the most part. Unbelievable.

I didn't think the visuals were all that great. Especially considering what the original Splinter Cells looked like for their time. Character models in this game are a joke too. A big wtf at the guy with the pony tail and gloves.
Camera angles are really troublesome as well, and AI needs some real work.

Mark and execute is every bit as easy as you would expect. You run out of it eventually which doesn't really make sense, but whatever.

you already answered your own pondering. If you didnt have to keep earning it it would make the game far too easy. So it makes perfect sense as a gameplay mechanic to earn it.. save it for when you need it. Offerings a challenge, and some pace to the stealth genre

Dunno why you had problems with camera angles

I couldn't disagree more. With respect to the camera angles, you control the camera. If you're having a problem with it, it's your fault.

You obviously haven't been following Conviction at all, have you? You earn the mark and execute by scoring hand-to-hand attacks. Once you use it up, you have to wait until you get another melee attack before you can do it again. And if you think it's too easy, DON'T use it.

It's not my fault when no matter what direction I turn it in tight spaces I can't see a damn thing.

Also I'm aware I don't have to use it. I just don't get EARNING the function to shoot multiple enemies. Seems like a cheap way to implement a new mechanic.

I guess I just have a different version of the demo where the camera works fine.

Like you said, it's easy to use. Because it's easy, you have to earn it. It's like special moves in other games that depend on having enough energy/magic/other random thing denoting you can execute something cool.

I dunno, your complaints are making you sound like some kind of scorned ex-fan.

I find it more sad that in the original SC games, you could play almost the entire game without ever killing someone or even getting noticed. In this, their idea of stealth is killing a handful of people, blowing up an EMP thing, using noisemakers and EMPs all over the place.

To be fair, the first and only three people you have to kill in the demo are part of a tutorial essentially on how to earn and use the mark and execute ability.

The stealth video is unbelievable...how stupid are those guys in the game ???
At 2:00 min can't believe he sneaks past that guy there and he got not mention,he must be sleep walking,
same at 2:40 when he walks into that hall ! Nobody mentions him....:(
I know it's a game...but since stealth is part of it thats just lame !

Besides that...game looks good, but those moment ruin it for me !
