Sam - Oh, really?

What a year man... especially for Xbox 360 owners.
What I don't understand is why graphics are so lucklaster.

Anyway, the game looks average compared to the first three Splinter Cell games, so I'm just going to save my money for Perfect Dark XBLA.
I felt MW2's single-player was a big victim of this, and because of this the pacing felt way off to me.

Bring on the stylized(over-stylized? pfff), over-the-top, actiony explosions....or other forms of badassery...like shooting a dude in the knees. I don't want my games to mirror reality.
My main concern at this point is whether Sam is still Sam or not. I mean yaay, shooting guys and being all "whatever!" about it is, like, so awesome and all that, but underneath that better be Sam Fisher or I'll feel extremely cheated.
I've gotten shit for being concerned with character consistency before. I think Uncharted 2 is a train wreck for Nathan Drake's consistency, and I'd hate for this to be the same for Sam. I mean this is Sam Fisher who was deliberately made an "old timer" so that the zany, crazy action hero days were behind him. This is Sam, a person who has a very clear understanding of right and wrong, who is composed and professional. I get that this is about his daughter and that it's personal, but if the "awesome" killing to left and right gets too gratiutous and self indulgent, it's an extreme disconnect for me.
I remember back in.. was it Pandora Tomorrow? You have a contact that you meet up with, and as you're exiting in an elevator, Lambert goes "shoot her, Sam!", and whether you do or not - your choice - Sam clearly objects to Lambert, questioning if it was really necessary. There are numerous examples of this littered throughout the series, meant to enforce the stealth gameplay obviously, but subsequently also dictated the character.
Conviction better not just use his daughter as a device to throw that character trait out the window. The world doesn't need yet ANOTHER coldhearted videogame badass murdering hordes of "enemies".
