after the last one, i'm not sure about this one. they've gone for the theory of "bigger world = better world" but that ain't further from the truth.

Bought Arkham City day one and thought it was worth every penny. In the other hand this doesn't look really promising and no Rocksteady this time ...

Yeah no.

What has me skeptical of this is the fact that it's a new cast, new developer and old tech. I think I'll be waiting for the next-gen Rocksteady release.

Hated the 2nd? Jesus... What kind of ridiculously high standards do you have?

I get not liking it as much as the first because the story and connectivity of it all wasn't as good as the first, but man, the gameplay was still spot on. I can't imagine anyone hating Arkham City. Pretty fucked up.

i definately liked it a lot less at the time, and in retrospect i would maybe say i "hated" it too. i just didn't like the typical openworld approach, especially when they had such an awesome, densely packed semi-open approach of the first. getting around was a chore. as you said, the enemies where disconnected and poorly implimented. and they even took away a lot of what made the first game great, namely the feeling of being a predator, and adventur-game approach of finding items to alow you approach in past areas etc). it suffered all the problems of something like spider-man, and i hated the game for changing it's approach. to know this game is twice as big just puts me off completely. although i hear there is fast travel now, so you wouldn't need to use the tedious flying...so maybe it'll work better? who knows

Arkham City felt like you were Batman in Gotham, being on rooftops, scouting, investigating from afar using gadgets, hunting, tactical approaches...feeling unlimited how to approach a situation.

Arkham Asylum felt so limited, basically Batman became a CSI investigator going room to room, which was poor and boring and i didnt finish it because of that.

AC wasent open world per-se but it sure felt you could use the grapple and the cape ALOT more and have much more exploration than the claustrophobic AA going room to room, pure boring.

and i enjoyed the flying, it wasent tedious at all since you can keep using the grapple to pull yourself in quicker and jump again, better than the shitty climb, hover abit, climb, hover abit *cough* infamous.

So yeah I agree with you. AC was better in every single way over AA. I just hope Origins follows the same style but better.

That's not what I said. I thought the story and the "flow" i guess were much better in AA. Some of the rooms where you got to be all stealthy felt better in AA as well. I still absolutely loved AC though.
than the claustrophobic AA going room to room, pure boring.
What?! Boring? I don't even understand.

That's absolutely crazy to me. It still oozed quality, and it even did some things better than the first. Not digging the open world aspect while liking other open world games like Infamous doesn't make a ton of sense to me, especially since it's not one of those unnescessarily large open world games. It's too bad you thought getting around was a chore. It has easily been my favourite way to traverse an open world game to date.

that's precisely WHY i can dislike something like batman AC but like infamous. i enjoyed the act of moving around in infamous. i found batman tedious. it's the difference between crackdown (loved) and prototype/AC/RDR (hated). getting around is the be all/ end all of open world games for me. if i enjoy it, i consider it a decent game. and unsurprisingly, if i find it a chore, i dislike it.

I have a friend who also loved AA but gave up on AC because he hates open world games. While I completely disagree with his opinion I guess I can understand it.

But I love open world games. Making the city bigger sounds amazing to me. I would take a full sized Gotham with drivable Batmobile and Batplane if they could pull it off.

Meh, he barely got anything on the face to shave off.

Besides, Batman will get women even if he had beard, as long as they are real women and not girls :P
Proof: Tony Stark.
