Xbox 360 PS3

Electronic Arts released this new teaser video of Fight Night Round 4 showing the dream fight Ali vs Tyson in action, but also showing that the animations are as stiff as ever.

Woo-HOO. They'd better not screw this up. FNR3 is one of my absolute favorite fighters. Graphics are top notch( if you look closely, you can see the muscles flexing). Just give us more modes and fix the AWFUL commentary, and I'm sold...

Yea the muscle movement is quite impressive.

Looks pretty good, not my type of game, but good for the fans.

Just curious, what other modes would you want for a boxing game? All I need in a game like this is just the straight up one-on-one fighting mode. (With options to customize things like the number of rounds of course)

Not really. It is just two characters standing in a ring with limited background assets. Compare it to RE5 or KZ2 with everything they have going on screen. Still, it looks great and I'm excited they focused more on improving the physics and gameplay this time.

Looks really fantastic, no doubt!

If only they'd pay as much attention to the animations, it's be killer. I know it's not easy to make the animations not look all clunky and awkward with the game's control mechanics, but still...it animates pretty horrible.

I did enjoy the demo of FNR3, but I'd never buy the full game...just not my genre really.

exactly but thats the point the fact they're targeting 2 people and limited assets means they can push all the consoles power at all the little things that make those 2 boxers look real and react realistically.

and the fact that thats all thats in the game to look at doesn't make the fact its all ingame footage still hard to believe i mean it looks amazing.

Though i agree what other modes are their lol? one on one boxing is the sh*it FNR3 was spectacular wasted months of my life playing it lol

I don't see the problems with animations. You get great responsive gameplay, or nice animations. And I'm a graphics freak as if you didn't know.

True to a certain extent, but I think they should be able to find a nice middleground.

I'm a graphics freak as well, but I'm even more, perhaps slightly disturbingly, an animations freak. Which, is unfortunate for me since there isn't one game out there that gets them right.

I did have a few good laughs in the FNR3 demo with the 'responsive' animations as you call them. ;P

Agreed about the animations. Proportions are still awkward at times, especially on Tyson in this video

Hopefully they fix the part where custom characters are unbeatable if they're maxed in Heart

Is it me or does that really not look like Ali? I mean that really doesn't look like young Ali much... Otherwise, I'm really impressed by the graphics.

Am I (and seem that Blim) the only ones that think that the animations suck big time? To the point that overshadows its strenghts in the visual department.

Tyson looks like a little action figure with exaggerated features, but atleast that look fits to the wooden animations.

You have to make a compromise. Either fluid animations or perfect control. It may not look as good in a video but it sure feels better if you actually play it the way it is now (and has been in FNR3). You can counter at every single frame of an animation, that's more important than smooth animation. Otherwise you don't have a boxing game but a boxing video instead. And I'm pretty sure they'll include some kind of animation smoothing.

well you guys are comparing a fighting game to shooters. Compare it to other fighters and you wont find better lighting, shading, and character detail in any game thats equal to this:

but i agree the animations could be better

Yeah, you can't even compare this game to farming wow gold on World of Warcraft. And I also agree that the animations still has room for improvement.

It needs a decent career mode, all fight nights so far have had very poor career modes, extremely shallow and limited. HBO Boxing on PS1 and even TV Sports Boxing on the Amiga in 1991 had far better career modes.

That's kinda what I mean, FNR3 was awesome, but needed a little more depth in the carreer mode. It did seem a little bare bones, but I guess if you compare it to other Fighting games, its not missing anything. I just wanted more. I hope they expand the create-a-character and the between round gameplay...
