GSY Video PS4

Nioh is of course playable at the TGS, with a nice long demo, but since DjMizuhara has issues uploading big file we only managed to get the second part of his video, which is the end boss fight. So enjoy it, while we try to get the rest!

I hope there will be a lot more areas in the game because im worried they are showing way too much. I get its a new IP and they need extra marketing but i think the psn demos were more than enough to sell people on the game

Well, to be fair, i as skeptical about this game but after this second demo/beta thing, i think i will in fact buy it. It's far from the souls clone media hyped it up to be, but it seems like a fun game all in it's own right.

The only thing i don't like is the kinda mediocre graohics, but i'm happy to overlook that in favor of the fun gameplay :)

Yeah, i wish too the graphics and some animations were better for sure. Btw I'm curious, did you like that they completely removed durability and really decreased the stamina penalty mechanic?

Well, the durability was an issue in the first beta imo. Because you have to invest points for individual weapons, and if your weapon of choice broke and you didn't have another you were kinda fucked. So i see why they changed that. But at the same time, the lack of durability kinda makes random loot redundant, so it's a tough thing to balance right i think.

As for the stamina, it seemed a bit on the easy side this time. Using the charge move felt almost optional now. But it's hard for me to compare directly. I think the game felt more playable in this latest itteration though. A lot of the things that made the first beta so frustrating i barely had the patience to keep going were toned down, and i still think it was plenty challenging. So overall an improvement, even if those improvements come with their own set of design issues.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly but i hope the final game will be a little harder than the beta. Also i didn't test this but are there any measures to prevent farming/overlevelling etc?

To me it felt like the only thing stopping you from maxing out in the first area is the rising price of levels. Personally, i think i got to like lv 7 or something before it got so expensive to level that i didn't bother about it anymore, and focused on mastering my weapons and learning enemy layouts. After a few attempts i could get through the entire first area without any trouble at all, so it seems like the game is mainly dependent on player skill over leveling. Kind of like Dark Souls in that respect i guess.

As for the balancing of stamina, it's also hard to judge from just the stuff i saw in the demo. Maybe with harder enemies later, using the stamina recovery and stuff might become more important. Also, using it actively also made things easier, even if it felt doable without it as well. I think that's kind of a balance thing, but they probably don't want to alienate players who would find that kind of mechanic difficult to keep track of (i forgot to use it all the time personally, especially early on).
