The first two Amped games were among my favorite games on the first Xbox. So I was really anticipating this game's release at first, then dreading it when I learned that the gameplay had been simplified a lot. Now that I've spent quite a few hours playing this game I can say that Amped 3 is clearly not as good as the first two games, but it's also not as bad as what I thought it would be. A mixed bag, with some huge mountains (but much slowdowns), great humor (at least if you are into that kind of completely stupid stuff) and a not so deep gameplay.
Update : Second part online.

I would buy SSX On Tour, but I've heard it doesn't play well on Xbox 360. Decisions, decisions...
and i love the choice of fat man with ginger afro who's going to die of hyperthermia :)

When all is said and done and it comes down to the gameplay though, this feels less like Amped than I ever expected. It's not that it's bad, really, it plays pretty well within its own framework (which more restricted than before, but more instantly rewarding aswell, since tricks certainly look "cooler" here than in previous Amped games) and the story and presentation is insane. You'll really either appreciate it or possibly hate it, but you can't deny that it does it with a lot more conviction than the sort of lame (from a presentation standpoint) SSX On Tour.
If you have't played and enjoyed Amped before, you're more likely (and on a whole, pretty likely) to like this one. It's in comparison that the gameplay just doesn't quite match the dynamic feel of Amped 2. Online modes aren't really sorely missed (surprisingly so) and its main strengths are the story, scale and the amount of stuff you can do.
Rent it for a weekend, is my advice. Then decide if it's a keeper.
This and RR6.
Oh and Blim, you play very well. :)
