Trailer PS3

Without a word since 2008 and the prototype video, The Unfinished Swan is back with a trailer and screenshots. The game is about exploring the unknown and painting a white world. Though the latter is only the first 15 minutes according to the studio, after that it gets more weird. The title will come out on PSN later this year.

Wow, someone's still working on this? I guess it'll be like Limbo, Fez, etc. Where these cool indie games take 5-6 years. I guess that's better than getting a slew of tissue games that are done in 1 week and have no lasting impression.

This should look way sharper than it does, bleh. If you're going with such an extreme style, you have to nail it. It should look crisp and clean and sharp, this doesn't quite nail it and that's pretty off-putting.

Yeah they should really bump up the anti alising, it looks like they used some kind of FXAA that has a tendency to blur things up, they should try some beefy MSAA instead, 1080p is would be nice too.
I guess it's not a big deal in a game like this, but it would add a slick sharpness to it that would benefit the art style more.

You'll struggle to do that seeing as it's PSN exclusive...as will be the devs 2nd and 3rd game.

They signed a contract with sony for a three game deal ala thatgamecompany. Hell, maybe it'll reach PC. I doubt it tho, not when it's been co-developed by sony santa monica. But hey, you keep on hoping. I hear pigs are about the fly too. Check the skies.

Oh this game! Heard about this a while ago, when it had a creepier, isolated feel.

Tech Demo - 2008

I wonder going with a fantasy land will do for the monochrome aesthetic. I'm not expecting deep gameplay, more of a narrative ride like Dear Esther but who knows, this game might have gotten a boost in ambition because of Santa Monica studios.

Wow, a lot of hate in this thread. I was just throwing salt on how long these indie darlings take, not actually slamming the game.

Much like Journey, The Witness, Limbo, Fez, Braid, etc. it's moody, obtuse and builds a short experience out of a simple mechanic and realtime narrative.

I'm happy somebody is doing games that get back to fine-tuning mechanics and back to storytelling through the game versus throwing story AT you, while you go through a kill tunnel.

The whole paint mechanic Only lasts about 15 minutes according to the devs. They knew a game that only did that would get tiresome. Apparently it gets weirder and more surreal the more you play.

looks interesting but a more detailed paint ball splash would have definitely made for me. Would have loved to c the paint running down the surfaces instead or painted footsteps but at least they thought outside the box so thumbs up for the effort i guess
