Really don't like the design of him much, a bit overdesigned, a bit Camp, a bit emo. But thankfully majority of the game is first person so i won't have to look at him much.

Day 1 though. Thief was awesome back in the day, i just hope this stays true to its roots and hasn't become all "accessible" for the noobs.

Can they just make him Scorpion from Street Fighter, only in a world requiring stealth combat? I'd like that. The original Thief was more 50-50 dagger & bow than this appears to be.

These next gen systems are not going to offer anymore than what a current high end PC already does. The systems are going to give us 1080 60fps long draw distances and highly detailed textures on our 50inch tv's.

Prepare to be "noobified" in the same manner of the recent TombRaider. QTE and regenerating health ahoy! What's the betting you'll even get a swanky X-ray toggle to give you clues on where to go, what to do, and what lock to pick? Ah, yes - I can see it all now.

The problem with this kind of game is it's either have alot of that stuff or have the tedious save, reload/trail & error system.

Or maybe they can find a nice middle ground.

That's just modern gaming accessibly clouding your judgement.

I've recently been playing REmake on the gamecube. And i forgot just how intense the game is, thanks in part to the fact you don't have checkpoint, recharging health or a save-anywhere function...or any other BS noobifications.

The less of that shit in this game the better. But even thief 3 was made more accessible compared to the first 2 games. So i expect more here. I don't want it, but i expect it. Recharging health. Checkpoints every 5 seconds. Etc. blergh.

I like the look and the atmosphere, although for a game being developed solely for next gen it is a little disappointing that they are using UE3. So many better options out there, although I don't know how long this has been in development. Just think how amazing it would have looked if it wasn't developed using 10 year old tech.

I think my biggest concern is their big push for accessibility. I think we all know what that leads to. After reading a few previews, I'm already a little worried about the "focus" combat mode. Basically, when entering combat, instead of real time is goes slow mo and forces you to match button prompts to target body parts. I know Thief isn't about the hand to hand, but if that crap isn't optional it could very well ruin the game for me. This is one game that absolutely SHOULD NOT have giant flashing buttons prompts on the screen. Make the combat quick, brutal, and unforgiving (that is the point). I don't know why a single game can't remain true to its roots. You would think someone would at least TRY it and see if it sells...

Agreed, I think the UE4 engine would have been perfect since it has real time lighting and global illumination which is perfect for the Thief style of game mechanic ( Shutting off torches and stay in the cover of darkness etc... )
