i'm sorry to point out the obvious, but this is just a call of duty clone. I have to say that i really like modern warfare first person shooters, but i'm growing really tired of them. Always the same drill, convoluted "story" and random area of the planet after random area of the planet, go from a to b, shoot Russian/Islamic terrorists...

And Call of duty series has already tried all the tricks to distract us from a real story: atomic bomb explosion, Russians invading and destroying Washington etc etc
cmon guys, surprise us.

Despite the MoH series predating the CoD series, mt_sabao is entirely correct in saying that this is a CoD clone. Saying it's the evolution of MoH when it's clearly a copy of MW1 and MW2 is a bit silly. You could try to argue that the MW games sprouted from earlier CoD, and that CoD is the result of MoH, but that's a pretty damn weak argument for saying this new MoH isn't a clone of CoD.

From what we can see it looks very nice IMO, hope what looks like ingame content really is as the visuals are impressive, hoping from a very strong 15 hour+ SP as MP doesn't interest me in the slightest.

If we're bitching about "Modern Warfare" clones, then COD4 was clearly a ripoff of BF2. BF2 was clearly a ripoff of Desert Combat, Desert Combat was clearly a ripoff of Ghose Recon, Ghost Recon was clearly a ripoff of...

Hint: COD didn't start the "Modern Warfare" genre. It just jumped on a bandwagon long since already rolling.

despite all the hate this game will get here because everyone here is so niche and uber awsome as they only like the unique stuff, good or bad, this game looks pretty awsome from what we've been shown. So far I can leave optimistic about this game. Hope they don't mess it up as it looks asif it could be a quality title.

Oh, so because it's a modern day war FPS, it must be a COD clone.

From all the previews and interviews I've read for this game, it's pretty clear this game isn't a COD clone. It's set in the modern day war in Afghanistan. You won't be touring around the world in some convoluted blockbuster story. Though the characters are fictional, alot of the events are inspired by many of the real "tier one" guys working with the developers.

Come on, It's not like COD invented modern warfare. Can't another game be set in modern times and not have to be unjustifiably dumbed down to a COD clone. Let's at least wait for some gameplay footage.

Looks excellent, for the price of a few beers you can have a blast with your mates in multiplayer and play through a cracking single player which looks like Afghanistan from the trailer. I love war games..... What's the problem?

looking very pretty. Hard to believe the mileage dev's are getting out of the Unreal engine. I'm wondering how much of a visual distinction will be between the SP and Multi given the multi's using the frostbite engine..which is obviously designed in mind for destruction.

Be interesting to see how this years cod will fair against it - without it's focus on "modern". One things for sure, you can bet that online will be full of first week teething problems for both.

Looks more intriguing to me than CoD. I like the "authentic" special forces angle too. It feels more grounded than Call of Duty too. I like the "hunt down Al Qaeda" thing, and seeing as I only got to go to Iraq, it will let me live out some dark fantasies. I think I read somewhere that there will be a good deal of environmental destruction in this too.
The graphics look pretty fantastic and if they can nail the shooting mechanics, then I will be all in...

Sure, except that everything about it looks like MW(the games...not the concept of modern warfare).

Don't be ridiculous.

If you people can't see how closely it's copying MW1/2, then I don't even know what to say.

Could you expand on this?
I mean, it's period is the same as COD:MW, so obviously it's going have similarities with middle eastern war scenes, etc... but I can't see why you think it so closely imitates so much so that it's a copy...

Well since it looks like Ubisoft has destroyed my beloved Ghost Recon series and will probably fuck up the Rainbow six series some more in the future, this is my best bet for another great modern war game...
It definitely looks the part...

Because its dusty and in modern times. I think people have come to love the MW series so much it now has its own level of fanboyism as consoles do.

MW2 didn't blow me away mainly because it seemed like the developers were so blown away with the success of the 1st that they just thought they would see what they could get away with.

The ZeroPunctuation review was quite accurate IMO.

Also the main screen for this looks like a homeless man is crouching next to a rifleman

the only reason why this game is being rushed out to the market, and set to a "modern warfare" setting (a clear distinction to the rest of the MOH franchise) is to capitolise on the sales of CODMW2 - this should not be argued.

Throwing around words like "clone", and "ripp-off", is unfair though as it gives the impression that this has no value of it's own...and we've yet to see just what quality it has to offer over MW2.

Without even knowing how this will turn out, i still find it hard to get inspired by a game that is clearly jumping on the success of COD.A game that is born from it's own inspiration is something you can believe in but this will be forced for the sake of it or rather so it can enjoy COD success. While clearly it could be argued COD4, COD MW2 jumped onto a bandwagon, what is much more obvious is how the devs are definitely riding the absolutely huge wake of how huge COD4 and COD MW2 has been

You can hardly blame them and that's all perfectly fine of course because it is a business after all, but knowing how it's come about, it's just hard to care for something like this

That's not the case with me just in case that's what you were implying.

It looks exactly like MW. Where I could distinguish MW from other CoD/MoH/BF games, this MoH, based on what we've seen, is indistinguishable from the MW series. In contrast(especially for those who are saying that CoD is just a copy of MoH[though weren't some Infinity Ward guys responsible for MoH?]), MW has a look of its own.
