Assassin's Creed Mirage is now official and it will let us play as young Basil in Bagdad. If you've played Valhalla, you're already familiar with this character, but in Mirage we'll get to discover how he became an assassin. Ubisoft only released a CG trailer for the moment and the game is planned for a 2023 release. Guess we'll have to be patient to see if the promise of a return to form is held. Mirage should put stealth in the center of the experience so we're curious to see how it turns out. Two more Assassin's Creed game are also in the works: Assassin's Creed Codename Red, set in feudal Japan (at last) and Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe that we know even less about except that it will be very different. Note that a mobile Assassin's Creed has also been revealed. For now, it is called Assassin's Creed Codename Jade, it will take us to China and will allow us to create our own character for the first time in the franchise.
Update: Codename Jade trailer added. Oddly enough, it's the only one which is available in 4K/60.

Identity" Jade.I always find it odd that they keep the gameplay of games hidden for so long without any reason. Specially for certain genres, like Open-World, and doubly so for a veteran franchise like this.
From the CG trailer, Basim will use many gadgets, like he did in Assassin's Creed> Valhalla. And Ubisoft won't completely change the formula for Mirage - if they do it, I would expect it to happen with Condename Red set in Feudal Japan, the most requested setting by fans ever since the franchise began and most likely PC, PS5 and XSX only.
So withholding Mirage's gameplay, which could have been anything - a fort, a cave, a camp or whatever the thousands of places and things they could have shown - was truly disappointing.
Even more baffling was the fact that they announced so many things for the future, but didn't show gameplay of any of them. Even Codename Jade could have shown some of the options for the character customization, which while not gameplay per se, it would at least give a look at a franchise's first character customization addition.
In the end, the whole Ubisoft Forward was a big let down, but the worst offender was the "first Assassin's Creed Showcase" as they put it. All wasted opportunities that did nothing for the Assassin's Creed's fans and the community.
Worst of all, just wait for the inevitable gameplay leaks since Ubisoft has more holes than a Swiss cheese, which in the end just baffles and irritates me, since the first look at gameplay we will end up having most likely will be with an off-cam or low quality video leak. Not to mention all the details that will leak as well.
I used to believe in Ubisoft as in expecting the company to learn from their mistakes and get better - I'm not even talking about games themselves, but executive decisions, however, Ubisoft will most likely never change, specially in how they treat their employyes, which is still very bad.
So I have no more sympathy for these same old dumb decisions Ubisoft's executives keep doing - like hiding gameplay from a 100-300 hour game, thinking that showing a 5 minute gameplay section or even just a gameplay trailer for the ~20th Assassin's Creed game in the franchise's 15th anniversary is too much...
Well, thankfully there's Ubisoft+, I don't need to buy their games anymore, just rent a month for cheap and finish them, then move on - 90% completion on Far Cry 6 at the moment. Since this is how they want it, fine by me.
The char models in the screens above don't even come as any meaningful step-up above, in my memory, from Origins/Odyssey bar. They just come as customized by the photomode "Effects".
UbiEngine IS THAT good making great looking outdoors shots. Every outdoor looking scene from above in their last couple of games is a "hang in the wall" stuff.
Just one of the very few reasons i play the franshise.
wonder if they'll be good. 😆
also... templars everywhere.
