Even if it doesn't, it will be great to have in my collection. Not that I know where my Saturn and Dreamcast VF games even are anymore.

And that is what sucks, Sega should know better, they need to make this a disc release with an instruction manual full color if they don't do that then SEGA can go fcuk themselves.

I really can't wait for this, Sadly it should've been release a long long time ago when we were signing online petitions etc. Unlike some I do understand their reason for it being a download, there is never a storyline or FMV sequences for stories in these games (typically those take up a lot of disc space), and duplicating 1000s of copies that just sit on shelves at $15 doesn't make it appear like its a good game to unsavvy shoppers. That will help their profits, because no one plays VF sadly :,(

Well, in the west no one plays VF, but in Japan, there are dedicated groups that are getting things shaping up on VF part. that's why they will release this, so people in Japan can play some VF5:R on their PS3's and X360's.

LOL, VF is one of the few games that really does some good tutorials and you want a manual?

Are you sure? People in Japan aren't really buying fighting games it seems. First week sales for UMvC3 and SC5 were horrible..

Don't those two games mostly target the West though Grift? I know MvC certainly does.
I thought the East were always obsessed with SF and VF mainly

The market over there is always interesting. Seems very specific and particular.

I don't think VF is that big in asia either. I think Tekken and Street Fighter are probably the ones with the largest audience?

Nah people line up for Virtua Fighter. Every time the arcades saw a new release it was always a huge deal.

Tekken is pretty popular too it's true. Not as big as VF and SF I don't think

I would assume that is in Japan though? Korea is huge when it comes to fighters as well and Tekken seems to be really big there. I can imagine that VF is popular in Japan though. Too bad the rest of the world don't seem to give a shit :P

for a VF fan and a videogame collector, YES a full color manual, jewel case and physical disc is a MUST, for SEGA to try and compete and again offer Virtua Fighter to potential new audience YES all of that is a must...

However I do understand that dumb ass pirates/hackers are ruining things for the rest of us, and even worse game buying practices at places like Gamestop where they basically encourage people to wait until a used copy is available is also affecting things on top of dumb ass game reviewers who mostly seem to think that Street Fighter is the ONLY fighting game in existance so they will unfairly compare and complain and just not help in providing the information a newbie might need to give VF a try...

Yes its a shame that they are going the DLC way... assuming people have always on, online service and INFINITE HDD space.

and @GriftGFX you think its my loss? thats great, I think its SEGA's loss but then again I also understand and can predict how a game review from a western review site will go like "ZOMG they only added 3 characters, bad SEGA bad, just buy Street Fighter... or better yet buy Call of Duty"

If I remember correctly, VF5 had decent first-day sales and then fell off the charts the first week (in Japan).

Yea--VF5 pulled nearly 50,000 units its first day (and slipped to the #25 spot in less than a week)--Tekken 6 did 100 (79k from the PS3 alone).

Japan isn't as Virtua Fighter crazy as you think. It has an audience but it's not even big by fighting game standards.

And you skipping Final Showdown, which is going to be a great game, simply because it's a download.. well.. that's still your loss. It's time to catch up with the rest of the world and accept that online is a permanent fixture in this industry. You don't have to like it (or support it) but you are going to miss out on things because of it.

Just shows youa re out of touch. VF isn't failing because of pirates, and let me remind you that all releases of VF up until VF5 FS have been on disc. It still doesn't sell. VF isn't selling because it's a VERY NICHE game. It's as simple as that.

UMvC3 or rather the new Marvel Capcom did no favors to those who played the older arcade games 1 and 2, they screwed up the game play so you really have to like MvC to buy the new ones.

Soul Calibur, I would argue (for many years) has a much bigger following outside of Japan (just like MvsC and hence why a new game was really made) I would wager its no where close to Virtua Fighter in audience... it is a very nice game and all.

@Megido its not that "the rest of the world don't give a shit about VF" its that when it comes to coverage, Virtua Fighter series in lets say US/NA market mostly never gets the same fair and repeat coverage games like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Halo and Call of Duty get.

That applies to print magazines mainly and also to online websites.

I think a lot of people have perceptions of what is "big in Japan" that are based strictly on anecdotal evidence. This game will probably get smashed by Tekken Tag 2 in Japan. VF is a niche game period.
