Xbox 360

Except for a few seconds Mass Effect was strangely missing from the flood of videos on the Marketplace during the last E3. Now that all the paper magazines finally have their own previews out, we finally get to see this game by ourselves. And the wait was worth it, as this looks really incredible.

This video has become really popular in the last few hours. Even Sony fanboys are accepting that they wish this game was coming to PS3. Anyways, If there is a so called 4DVD X360 game, I wouldnt mind at all if it is this one, given the actual quality, and vast zones this game is bringing. Disc swapping, here i come.

Yea this game is amazing a lot of ps3 fanatics giving it a lot of props, but the ps3 will have games like this too... final fantasy XIII will no doubt look incredible and many other ps3 games when they are ready. I don't expect Killzone to match the E3 2005 stuff, but I still expect it to look great.

no 360 game would ever need to go multiple disk with the advance compression they use.

erm its all in game movie so no CGI, no need for copious amounts of disc filing cgi

Its also a trilogy of games so expect 30 hours per game not 100+ for the first one

its looks truly amazing, the quality of the digital actors is amazing and the new conversation system suit me very well more like a movie

the current FFXIII in game on ps3 does not come close to this at all

I saw a part of this presentation on youtube a couple of months ago in a very low resolution. It already looked awesome back then and now in HD it's my favorite game to come!

BTW: Why don't other games have such a character design? Bioware shows us it's possible in a massive rpg, so why isn't it even used in smaller games?

Well in regards to that ff13 comment. I think ff13 to many people can look superior in its own way. Its all about what you like as far as art style goes and the final fantasy serie's art style is something that really appeals to me.

It seems with ff13 they going for an amazing anime type style and I'm all for that. It doesn't need to be graphically superior to mass effect all it has to do is have top notch quality visuals the likes of which are expected of a powerful console like the ps3 and give me amazing production values and I'm sold on it.

For example to me Blue Dragon is just as good graphically as Mass Effect is as far as I'm concerned (because I just really like the style)

Damn that was awesome.... Hope they work the shooting part out more, cause it looked a bit static, but everything else is top-notch so i'm not complaining.....

There are many ways they can compress the information to make it fit. Also as history has shown the best looking games don't necessarily take up the most space.

downloading... I really want to see this one.

Compression is a very interesting topic in games...
Don't forget that well compressed programs also load a lot faster too. And in a lot of cases they will actually run faster. And if the hardware nativly supports compressed files then you can display/play more content at once. The 360 has advantages for this type of game, given it has hardware support for decoding xma audio files (a game tailored version of the wma audio codec). For example the majority of content in obllivion was actually audio.

Gotta love Bioware :p Im sure there are lots of new ideas, but one i noticed here was when main character was threatenig bartender he pulled out his gun. It's nothing special but i've never that kind on character interaction in dialog mode in any rpg and it was kinda cool :) I mean usually two characters just stand facetoface without making any expression no matter what they are talking about.

the 360 has hardware decompression. Meaning the chips can decompress any compressed data without any need for software decompression. Essentially it decompresses on the fly, meaning high quality compression with no slowdown. MS new they where using a on the way out disc format, but they also new what was needed to make it work in the next generation.
