Video PC Xbox 360 PS3

You should know that by now, we like to do things right, so we thought proposing to you videos of the PC version of DiRT 3 would be a nice addition to uncle Blim's excellent review. Though the game runs perfectly well on ultra setting on my PC (i5 3.2 Ghz 4 GB of RAM and Nvidia Geforce GTX 570), it is not easy to capture videos with a steady framerate using Fraps. Therefore, we will start with two 60 fps replay videos in 1080p. If we find a way to make proper gameplay videos, we'll add them later.
Update: Two gameplay videos added. All the PC videos have been captured using the Fanatec wheel.
Update 2: Subaru replay added.
Update 3: Added a video showing a replay in cockpit view. Mind the horrible music.
Update 4: Last video added showing a replay of a short Rallycross race in wet weather.

This game looks really fun. I think I'll pre-order it. Oh one question! What kind of DX11 support does the game have? Dirt 2 had some tessellation on flags, water and spectators. I was wondering if there is any new features.

None that I know of. But I might be wrong.

For proper recording you would need 2 PCs, the gaming one and another with a capturing card, like a BlackMagic card. Otherwise, you'll keep losing frames like crazy with Fraps or other programs.

These blackmagic cards have hdmi input and output so you'd be watching your gameplay in the second PC. You could also use 2 monitors in the gaming PC and duplicate the output but it causes a lot of tearing. Hope it helps, PC gaming is getting hotter and hotter these days.

We know that. Unfortunately, we are broke so that's the best we can do for now. :/

Thanks anyway. :)

I'ts a pitty =( I really like the job you're doing with PC games lately. Keep up the good work!

EDIT:

May I ask which software do you guys use to encode your WMV nad Mp4 videos? (I mean, from the original uncompressed to the ones you post) They look awesome.

Recording in 720p would be enough If it means better graphics...

Or an SSD.

It will still have a hit due to CPU and bus traffic. The price of a big SSD is similar to a price of a BlackMagic card, on a PC which doesn't need to be anything special it should be the best solution.

To encode our avi videos in wmv we use WMenc.

chrss: I'll also try to capture some 720p videos, but it will look a little less sharp, obviously.

Fantastic, If the file sizes are reasonable, I'll try to capture some videos myself and share them. I have quite a powerful rig (2500k @ 4.5Ghz + 5870 Crossfire x2) so I guess I might be able to do some 60fps, lets hope so =)

It's probably some small effects again then. I don't think I have seen any talk about DX11. When they released Dirt 2 they had comparison videos and all. Thanks for the videos! Game looks really good.

It looks a lot sharper than the consoles version for what I see. Very nice.

No cards until about 3 months ago could do 1080p60 capture. And even now, it's still $1000 for one (plus the PC with the big ass raid array). Fraps will have to do for the moment.

The only reason why I mention it because obviously you can't play on the highest settings and record it on the same time (very few could do it to be honest). So I can't see any difference except the resolution. If 720p means highest settings and recording in the same time at least we could see the difference between the console and the PC version clearly.

So wait, you had to turn the settings down?

Then why bother recording the PC version...?

These videos are awesome, the only problem I see with the PC version then is the in-car camera/wheel shaking. That looks really bad, kills the looks.

After playing it quite a lot I can say that it's a much better game than Dirt 3, more fun and with much better graphics.
