We finally received our GTX 1080 Founder's Edition and decided to give Watch_Dogs and Grand Theft Auto V a new ride to see what the added horsepower could bring to the overall experience. Rockstar's title allows for more maxed out options than with our SLI of 970s, but the biggest improvement can be noticed in Ubisoft's game, which can now run at 60 fps in very high settings. Since the first presentation of Watch_Dogs 2 somehow reminded a bit of GTA V's art style, it felt natural to bring both games together in this news article. Watch_Dogs + Grand Theft Auto V = Watch_Dogs 2? We should be able to find out in just a few months now.

See, it only took a GTX 1080 - 2 years after release - to finally be able to play Watch Dogs at 60fps at very high settings. :p
Reminded me of an user who said to me back then when Watch Dogs launched that it was my computer's fault and not the game that it was running with a lot of stutter, which made it unplayable for me, even though it was the only game that was like that. Funny times.
Drift, any chance you can try taclking Crysis 1 and Warhead? I remember them for being poorly unoptimized. Would be interesting to see how well "brute-forcing" handles poorly optimized games like these.

As for Watch Dogs on PC, the game ran well with nice settings, but the stuttering was the worst I have ever seen. And even using the lowest settings and resolution didn't have any effect on it.
I just mentioned that because an user back then kept defending the game like his life depended on it. And here we finally see a GTX 1080 to tackle the game properly. Well optimized my ass!
I also remember another user telling GriftGFX that some Far Cry 4 issues that he - and other people - was having being his computer's fault. The degree to which certain fanoys will go to defend certain companies or products is quite funny.
PS. It would be quite interesting to see Watch Dogs in 4K. I wonder how well it would run then. The dark side in me wants to see a computer burn and meltdown trying to do so. lol
It ran at 1080p/ultra/60fps with a 780.
Stuttering was fixed a month after launch for me, and I did not get much at all in the first place.
After numerous patches, many months after release Watch_Dogs was was able to achieve 1080p60 on overclocked 980Ti at max settings (with SMAA or TXAA, not MSAA).
