Have to say these screens look excellent, I didn't think there would be that much of a jump in visuals from this gen to the next but its quite clearly a sweet improvement when compared to Some Gta V screens which is pushing the current consoles to its limits

i really do wish the game in motion looked like that. but i feel supersampling is in effect here. if not more doctoring. i just watched footage and even the giant helicopter spotlight doesnt cast shadows...are my expectations really too high here? maybe they are. but this just looks kinda "meh" to me.

Most of the screenshots look doable this gen though (especially the first one). I assume they are current gen by the chosen resolution, otherwise I would imagine they'd be 1080p. I hope that's going to be the case anyway; I don't think sub-HD buffers would cut it...

Very nice, i just hope they keep up with nice melee combat and sleek on-foot chase parkour action.

But since its Ubisoft, a open world one at that, i am 50/50 on it.

It has always looked like a MASSIVE MEH from the start. Ubisoft is playing its tricks once again at the start of a new gen just like they did with the original AC.

I am not falling for it again. I have always said this game is simply AC in a modern city with swords traded for guns and maps for a smartphone.

Yeah, my biggest worry was it was going to be AC in modern setting, and it looks like it could very well be just that. It feels like ubisoft are taking a page out of R* book of development. Where they have a single template (in this case, the assassins creed template) and they just stick different themes onto it. Because AC, far cry and this all seems to work in incredibly similar way. The footage they showed today was a far cry from the reveal footage, both visually and excitement wise. It bored by to death watching him assault that outpost. Thinking i won't pick this up on PS4 launch after all? But i'll wait until E3, maybe they'll show an actual story mission by then?

They would have to do a hell lot more than that to convince me personally. This clearly has taken a huge set back ever since its reveal and I wasnt even excited then to begin with.

If by stunning you only mean graphically, then YES. However, gameplaywise, It was exciting for the first 1 to 2 hours until the novelty wore off and you realised, it was just an empty world of promises and all you had to do was press the forward analog stick, pick pocket, overhear some nonsense and rinse and repeat. What kept it going for me was the story and soundtrack. Otherwise, I would have given up. Then came AC 2 which hit the nail on the head and was the best one for me but after that, Ubisoft just started taking the piss and crapped out 3 games that played exactly the same way and did not improve graphically (+ tearing!!!!).

They have a lot to prove in my book when it comes to open world games. They are playing EXACTLY the same trick with Watch Dogs.

This ''gameplay'' video looks like mess. It's like Ubi are trying too hard with hacking mechanics and the end result is ''press x to hack everything'', every minute, even during driving to activate omg spectacle. :D Definitely not for me.

Ubisoft are masters of taking away control. I never really epected their "hacking" to be anything remotely in-depth.

I still want to play it but the more I see about it the more it looks less unique than we were intentionally or unintentionally lead to believe. It really does look like a case of press the button prompt when prompted and this happens. And it's stepping further and further away from the idea that you could step inside other peoples game and have your own unique cat and mouse chase story.

The last pic really reminds me of the cancelled splinter cell game too

Well every game is just like any other game. Sure AC game they have lots of good experience. But I do not think that is bad thing. I like the setting too. I think it will be pretty good game

I wish they'd go crazy with the AC engine... have a game with same gameplay mechanics as I think those are pretty spot on for that type of game, same full worlds, and historically dated. But stick some giants in there, and monsters, and other fables. I'd love a decent clash of the titans game out of them...games seem to be stepping more and more away from the fantastical.

I don't expect this to even touch GTA V in terms of experience and sheer gameplay and fun. Visually I don't even think it's a massive leap beyond GTA V either. Both can't really be compared either seeing that art styles are so massively different. This is one game where that ICE mod would fit seeing that it's trying to look realistic. As 2pints above said, it's certainly "doable" on current gen systems, and from the first time I seen it, I was of that opinion. It's typical of an early next gen title where current gen assets and techniques are used, and some fancy new features like the bokeh blur and water dynamics are thrown in there to give a hint of what the next wave of games will look like. Technically it still looks very good, but I expect a lot more than this from the next gen.

Well, I actually COMPARED the in-game videos and the screenshots.
And the result is dissapointing.
The screenshots are really touched.
The effects are multiplied, for example, when the police car crashes, if you look at the screenshot you can clearly see the downgrade.

looks like a current gen game. of course this game is a sand box title so the world is way bigger in comparison. I once said a while back that the future of gaming is going to be sandbox. eventually environments will get big enough and every topic out there will venture into the idea.

currently we have, RPGs (like elder scrolls), Racing games (midnight club, Forza horizon), First person shooters (RAGE, Borderlands), stealth action games (splinter cell conviction, Hitman, metal gear solid: ground zeroes.)...It goes on and i'm expecting it to dominate.

It looks good. I do not know why people are comparing to current gen games. This further proves the point that current gen is good enough for most people. Comparision between PS4 version with PS3 will be intresting.
