After 5 days playing Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, we can now tell you what we truly think about this remaster of Naughty Dog's iconic series. Inside you'll find our verdict, the +/- section, a bunch of pictures from photo mode and a few more videos of the three games. Enjoy!
Verdict
One could debate the value of these remastered hits from the previous generation for quite a while, but regardless, The Nathan Drake Collection proposes high quality content both in form and substance. For those who have not yet experienced Uncharted on PS3, there is no better time to jump in. Even with their shortcomings, the adventures of Nathan Drake are more than worth the time and money investment. For others, there will likely be split opinions on the matter. The hardcore fans will be delighted to rediscover one of their favorite games with a resolution and frame-rate boost, though they may also lament the removal of multiplayer. Those that don't feel the need to revisit these games won't find much new and can safely skip it. The good news is that, whether or not you're interested in replaying Drake's original adventures, Uncharted 4 is just around the corner next year. Until then you have been given the gift of free will regarding the collection, so do as you please and enjoy!
- On the plus side
- Three great games on a single disc
- Endearing characters
- Fantastic port quality
- 60fps and 1080p
- Frame-rate is nearly perfect
- Lovely visuals
- Great soundtrack
- UC2 and 3 still look remarkable
- Incredible remastering of the rather old UC1
- Good length
- Great balance between different types of gameplay
- Quick loading times, even when switching between games
- On the down side
- The AI is too static
- Floating character movement
- Still a few collision related bugs
- No Multiplayer?
- Platforming just isn't challenging enough
- Not much in the way of new content (one new difficulty setting, a speed run mode, an explorer mode - aka very easy mode - and a photo mode)
- Cannot purchase games separately in digital form

But the graphics look really damn good in 1080p so I'm happy to try the game again even though I think a full asking price of $60 is a little lame with no MP for those who want the feature.
Anything big going on from those videos? They're really tempting to watch but I'd like to avoid spoilers.

Avoid our UC3 footage. The videos don't spoil much really, but like I said, if you see or don't see a character who was there in the previous games, you might think it's a spoiler.
Rather wait for 4, since Tomb Raider will keep me well entertained along with a host of other games.
To many games coming out now to be bothered with remakes especially if you have both consoles.
