Use of normal maps is quite similar to CoD4. It's hard to judge without seeing it in motion (animations etc) and outdoors, but it has potential.

It's confirmed it's from Killzone 2. It seems like a similar teaser screen to the one from Halo 3.

Looks bad ass.
I prefer Killzones art style more than Halo to be honest, always have been.

Wish I had a damn PS3, but I guess I will get it someday if the price is down good enough.

Why are they going so wild over this ? Theres talk of this being on a par with the original CG demo. Give me a break. Model is nice and all, but say hello to the pixelated shadow and low res walls.

PS3 aint famous for its textures, and textures are one of the main keys to next-gen graphics.

Even the walls on that Killzone image can be done on Wii because I have seen those looks on Resident Evil 4 Wii edition hence same thing on GC version.

But I think just because it shows ONE image doesn't mean everyone should go to conclusions, its very stupid.

It is better to see it running in GAMEPLAY mode, and Sony should be specific about saying this is work in progresss and a its a very early built so people don't get too worked up about it.
Makes it easier on both normal gamers and fanboys to comment about the game.

MGS4's strengths aren't in the textures either. If anything, the texture quality just gives me hopes for amazing environmental effects and animation. I await videos.

You are kidding, right? People are REALLY saying that?

The model substantially lower detailed, even in the normal maps (!) and the lighting is good for a next gen game but not great -- and definately NOT offline quality. The shadow map resolution is HORRIBLE. Look at the spot light how it casts the bad guys shadow on the wall -- the shadow is low resolution and jaggy. VERY poor soft shadow implimentation. I am also not seeing any self shadows. Some nice texturing in the shot, but also some low resolution stuff (the wall to the left of the soildier for example) and it looks like there is an alpha layer to the left part of the screen which is low resolution. The eyes look pretty poor; they are radiating some red glow on the face but they look very flat (no dimension to the eyes). And no comment on the lack of HQ AA. Likewise I won't bother with the gun which isn't above average for a gun model in an FPS.

The game looks good, slightly above average, but not great. Resistance had better quality levels and it was a launch game. COD4 shots mop the floor with this, and that isn't even a platform exclusive.

With all that said, now we can ignore the graphics and weigh the game based on its gameplay and features and all agree it isn't even close to the E3 2005 footage... we are not playing the E3 trailer, so we can just get over that.

The fans have spoken. Concerning the graphics of the Halo 3 Beta: "There's so many little effects and things going on that make this game pretty much 2nd only to Gears at the moment."

The point is it has been hailed by the Dev's themselves as the second coming, thats not the pic you want to be leaking before you show the press, unless of course they are going to hit us with the one - two - bang when the vids are released :)

Well MGS4 has great character models for sure but it doesnt have good textures as it should.

If the graphics on this image is what will show on the Killzone footage on E3 then it wont be like the CGI they said it would. They might as well say it will look great but nothing near a CGI.

Consoles arent able to reach that high CGI quality just yet, either that or a company with great record of quality games might be able to unlock that secret technique to do so.

PS. I hope the name Crysis doesn't show up here because you can't compare that game to any game, just doesn't make any sense at all.
