Those textures really bring this game to life, and 256 players!!?
woot!

I wish somebody would do something about the way the site deals with oversized images, but in the meantime (and the future) it would be nice if you could use thumbnails or something.

I thought MAG was a RTS game, but its a FPS, cool I guess.

If these screens are not touched up and honestly given here, I must say they totally outshine halo-3. come on what can we say, its a 256 player game and still so great looking and halo-3 was, well, another story. really really impressed by these.

Why even compare it to a year-and-a-half old game?

To me, the potential for 256 players is the only impressive aspect of the game so far, and as impressive as it is, it's not an attractive quality at the moment. I've never been a fan of overpopulated mp games.

Hmm 256 players seems like sort of a weird compromise in the middle. Either i'd want a full out MMO war with sides actually warring for control of territories on a big world map OR a more intense experience where you face off against a few other players in short rounds, actually giving you the chance to appoint a rival and get to know the other players style. But i guess it looks pretty good.

By the by, whatever happened to Huxley? :P

edit: technically it's not a weird compromise ofc, 256 palyers is pretty nifty, but i wonder how much fun it is.

apprently it's doing something similar to R2, where even though the numbers are high (overwhelmingly so if everyone was just huddled in one area) it split everyone into squads of 6 i think, each with a team leader, and each going for different objectives on a large map, and obviously, the oposing team are getting objectives that counter the other teams. so it probably wont be a hectic mess. but a more structured mayhem.

if it turns out as good as it sounds on paper, then it should be a great multiplayer game. a lot of things could potentially go wrong tho.

shooter fans are easy to come by, seeing as the ps3 has become an FPS console of late (while the 360 has become the RPG console). although prying them away from killzone 2 could be an issue?!?

The people who named this obviously had a sense of humor. I guess Generic Video Game Title was taken?

256 players is little more than a gimmick until they demonstrate how they intend to make such a population work in this type of game. If MAG (lol) doesn't have features like scalable maps, a large selection of vehicles, extensive objective gameplay and (perhaps most importantly) some sort of chain of command (commander, squads, squadrons, etc).. well.. it's just going to be a MCF (Massive Clusterfuck).

More != better.

Reminds me of Frontline for some reason.
I am not much into FPS anymore as I used to, let alone modern FPSs, but this looks quite good.

I read there is gonna be a beta for this game "soon".

I haven't seen one scene in the trailer where there is more than 32 players on screen. If MAG does achieve the 256 players in a single screen from one of the players then I will be impressed.

I hope there aren't sections of the map that are cut off to certain squads but it is looking like that may be the case.

Do you think that it's normal to see 256 squad mates and enemy combatants on the battlefield all from a single POV though? I don't think it's unreasonable to expect there to be more concentrated spaces in the level design. You don't see all 64 players in a BF2 map all at once for example.

Yeah, this is not an mmo...no zerging required. I wouldn't make any sense to have all 256 players so close that they could be seen on a single screen. Tactics...flanking...they are your friend!

LMAO...strange.

why would there be a need for 256 players on a single screen? this isnt some cluster-fuck UT type game...it's squads taking on objectives across a larger map. hell, i dont think i've ever seen all 16 players on screen in a game of cod 4....why would that suddenly happen in a game with a much higher player count?
