AI and "Textures and objects can be distracting as they pop into view, and the frame rate doesn't always retain a slick pace. Visual glitches can also annoy." seem to be the main issues alongside a boring, characterless story and an univentfull first 3 or so hours...i can handle the lacklustre story, but the pop-in and framerate i can't, i knew that would be a problem from the very begining.

it's a shame really, if this was a more consistant experience i think it could have easily rivalled the best shooters this gen has given us.

Its easily the best looking console game out there imo, some of the videos i've seen of the campaign are just mind blowing!

Seriously people are thinking this game is the best looking console game?

What happened?

oh wait....IGN said so.

I got the game btw. PC version that is.

Funny thing is, Crysis 1 still looks better graphics-wise.

Though they feel like 2 different games because of the urban setting.

Very true.

@ Grayfox:

Fuck what the reviews say, i'm talking about all the HD vids i've watched on my TV, it looks breathtaking.

@ iRaptor.

i agree with this quote from Euro Gamer.
But it is a world whose intricacy and realism will cause you to stop and stare long after the first drop of the jaw. The sway of tree-tops; the spray of a decorative fountain; the flames erupting from a burst gas pipe: incidental details that grab your attention for their quiet, shocking realism. Who knows how Crytek managed to squeeze Cry Engine 3 onto the consoles while maintaining such extraordinary level of detail? But this world sits next to Uncharted 2's as the most detailed and well-expressed yet seen on our TVs.

[Editor's note: Digital Foundry reports that frame rate takes a hit on the console versions of Crysis 2, so PC is the version to go for if you have a capable machine. Look out for a Face-Off soon. However, we reviewed from the 360 version and were plenty impressed regardless.]

It's not just window dressing, either. Shotgun blasts bite chunks from thin concrete, meaning that every time you duck behind cover you're weighing up its thickness and durability. Abandoned New York taxis will disintegrate under attack, doors falling off to reveal meticulous interiors. A cloud of dust from a fallen building – and the alien presence in New York only just manages to distort the echoes of 9/11 – forces the use of the suit's thermal imaging, all graphical flourishes that have tangible effects on the game.

I have no idea what IGN said, havent been to that site in years but its pretty clear from all the single player vids out there that it is the best looking game on consoles.

Bottom line this is equal to the best I've seen so far this gen, lets see what Rage and BF3 bring to the table.

I wouldn't compare Crysis 2 with Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2/3....those games are very "controlled" and linear to the point where the programmers know exactly what their respective engines are capable off and they don't ever leave those boundaries ever....but from what I have seen Crysis 2 just throws all kinds of stuff at you and engine boundaries are ignored
