The biggest thing, besides an amazing MP, that Crysis was missing to put it up there with Halo was a great story, but it sounds like they are trying hard to fix that in Crysis 2. Crysis had a lot going for it, but it's overall design wasn't as focused nor was it's story. With the right direction though I have little doubt Crysis 2 could very well take a lot of doubters by surprise.

Lord knows it already has the graphics going for it.

Crysis had a pretty capable story for a video game. Was it as good as Halo? Well, maybe not Halo CE, but I thought it handled itself pretty well. It was a pretty run of the mill alien invasion story with relatively good pacing and direction. It's time to stop pretending that Halo's plot is up there with the best in film and literature, because it's not even close. I just hope, that with a capable science fiction author penning the plot for the sequel, that they don't forget that the plot to the original game isn't actually over. We were left with quite a cliff hanger and I expected another expansion pack to tie up loose ends before a sequel.

I don't think anyone, certainly not myself, is trying to pretend halo has a story up there with the best in literature or film, hell, imo, there is not a single video game that exists with a story even close to the quality of a great film or book.

I was thinking more of Halo's world and the way in which the events of the game were presented. I also should have made clear that I was talking about the first Halo, as 2 and 3 didn't really come close to matching CE's presentation in terms of a focused campaign and direction. They didn't flow nearly as well IMO.

I just meant that the characters and overall design, while visually superb, lacked the character that much of Halo's universe captured. But that's just my opinion, if someone else found Crysis to be as exciting of a universe that is perfectly fine by me. Lord knows I've never understood why people are so interested in the Metal Gear stories, it's all a matter of opinion/taste.

Pretty impressed by the Crysis 2 gameplay shown on gametrailers. If any of that was on consoles then it really is gonna be a technical showpiece for what their engine can do on consoles. I really like the new setting, as another jungle game would have felt a little stale, but I do hope that by the end of the game we see more than just NY. I'm guessing they will indeed do something of this nature.

I was also impressed by the amount of physics and destruction I saw going on. It wasn't ground breaking but for such large levels and such top of the line visuals, it was nice to see it all coming together.

Now let's start hearing about the MP please.

I'm totally digging the setting, it's pretty awesome. And I'm also glad it's not another junglefest.

The city is very well crafted, very convincing design. Too bad the video quality's horseshit...

I dont dig the setting at all.

Too many movies and games have used it and it is getting really boring.

I mean what is it that makes people want to destroy NY over and over and over...etc. again?

I would have prefered if they could go somewhere in Europe, better locations, betters designs...etc. it would be fresh from all the US and middle eastern we see these days.

But whatever, I wont let the setting ruin the game, even if I dislike their decision.

IMO, I thought the gameplay was great with some screentearing here and there, with PC it will be gone.
I have Vsync off when I play Crysis/Warhead the reason is because I want a smoother performance without. I do see it now and then but its not much of a big deal, so not problem with Crysis 2.

I am buying it for sure.

Have too agree, if that was running on consoles, that has to be the best graphical engine on consoles to date.

I wouldn't go that far, the draw distance was bad and there was little to nothing going on... a few enemies and you shooting at each other. However what was able to be shown on the screen looked really good. I really hate the gun models in crysis games though, they look boring.

I would go that far for sure, considering how crisp and vibrant the image and colors are. It's not using a lot of filters and effects to make the graphics look better than they are (nothing wrong with that though, it worked amazingly well for killzone). They simply just look fantastic, especially for how much detail in on screen. The image of the guy falling from that tall building was easily as impressive as anything yet shown in any console game this gen imo.

I know fans of a certain system will find reasons to cut this game down, but I don't see how any objective person couldn't say this doesn't look very impressive for a console game. but that's just me so w/e.

But no matter how great it looks if it doesn't have a really great SP or a really good MP then it's nothing but a rental for me. I still think the first Crysis lacked focus and it just didn't give me a lasting impression. Especially the MP.

I like the killzone troll, nobody brought that up but anyways... game definitely looks great and for what is actually on the screen theres little doubt that its one of the very best on any system (save PC.. crysis 1/warhead look better imo). I'm just concerned that its gonna become more of a corridor shooter and move away from the semi-openworld shooter that the first crysis was. Doesn't look like there are as many routes to take and such from what was shown. One of the reasons crysis shined, as well as warhead, was the ability to attack your objective from different ways due to how big the areas were. This along with the suit powers, made it a compelling shooter that I personally loved. I'm not convinced running through the streets and up 1 story of a building is gonna be able to accomplish that.

But we've seen very little, so its far too early to made assumptions like this, here's hoping the PC version is godly!

EA's latest financial report places Crysis 2 in the first quarter of 2011

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/03/crysis-2-falls-t...

Basically amounts to a 2-3 month delay.

If the delay means a better framerate then by all means it will be worth the time. I think they would be smarter to delay it anyhow so they don't have to go up against Halo Reach in the fall. Killzone 3 might fall close to the new date but that obviously won't hurt sales nearly as much as something w/ Halo in the title.

I'm just really hoping they have a great MP and a great map editor. Those two aspects of the game or gonna make it or break it for me.

Otherwise, if it's just a good SP experience I'll probably just rent the game. Sure it will be a blast though, and visually stunning no doubt.

Damn you delay!
But then again its good they delayed it, why...

Basara 3
Castlevania LoS
Star Wars TFU 2

They will all come out this year starting with Basara 3. I can wait for Crysis 2, no hurry at all.

Crysis 2 being close to Killzone 3...both are a must buy for me, unless Crysis 2 MP seems boring like Crysis was.
