As for Mass Effect 2 its one of the highest rated games EVER!!! and universally praised for its story and combat, so forgive me if i don’t take your word as gospel :)

since when would an opinion of any kind be taken as gospel?

ME2 has a shit story tho. didnt feel like anything even happened. it felt like a "bridge" game. just there to connect the first and third but ultimately quite pointless, i just hope ME3 can bring it back to what made the first game so unbelievably great.

It was far from shit, not as great as ME1 for sure but in no way was it shit, if DeusEx if half as engaging as ME2, i'll be happy.

Well the reviewers have already mostly stated otherwise, so i'm not expecting anything as good as ME2.

Reviews don't mean anything anymore. Especially high praise. Games can have game breaking flaws and score near perfect 10's. You should know this by now, everyone does.
All of it is subjective.

Also I wasn't saying it felt like Deus Ex. I was saying it felt like a game I've played over and over already in games like ME.
When a game is SP only, plays like it does when I tried it, and costs what it costs, it's hard to justify a purchase.
It's a big reason why this gen sucks so much ass. There's very little innovation and people are just recycling ideas to make money.

I also agree that ME had better models for its npcs.

individually a review means nothing, but when every reviews follows the same pattern, well, then it turns into a concensus. and general consensus, is that deus ex is brill. if it wasnt, reviews wouldnt be as glowing as they are. simple

if it was actually good for you, yes, but the general consensus is that it isnt, it kills you, so people avoid it, so it's an unrealistic example anyway. now, the general consensus says smoking is bad, fatty foods are bad, lack of excersise is bad, 5 fruits a day are good, brushing your teeth twice a day is good, getting 7-8 hours sleep is good...and you know what, they're right, and people strive to avoid/do those things where needed/possible.

same goes for games. a crittically slated/acclaimed game is a bad/good game, you may not agree, but then we're back to individual reviews meaning nothing, but a consensus means everything. is gears of war a great game? yes, the consensus says so. do i like it? no, because it doesnt meet the demands of my own taste. does me not liking it make it a bad game? no, becasue the consensus says otherwise.

I can agree with this actually.

BUt IMO at the end of the day and what matters is what you we individually thinks so in that sense fuck the concensus lol. HL2 is crap.

played for another hour today, this is my GOTY for sure now. SOO Freaking good

I am 100% sure Edios Montreal nabbed some of Ubisoft Montreal's Splinter Cell team members. Their next game is going to be amazing

Was actually thinking of buying the Adam Jenson trench coat until I saw how much more expensive it is in the UK.

$189 in the USA
$271(eq) in the UK or £165.

At £114ish I may have been tempted but £40 extra for nothing else gained? F that!

It doesn't even have the pattern detailing across the shoulders. Very expensive for something that isn't even accurate.

The other items are pretty shitty as well, some very crap shirt designs considering the wealth of quality imagery in the game world to lift from.

Me too, only played about an hour so far, was so tired after work i felt like i was doing the game a massive disservice by not being fully awake. There is a lot to take in and playing tired is not the way to go about it. the environments are amazing tho, one of the most beautifully realised artistic visions i've seen in a game. It's utterly uncompromising. But the best thing about it, it feels entirely like deus ex. And for that reason alone i'm loving it.

It opens up SO MUCH when you get to Detroit! The augs are blowing my mind though, I don't know which upgrades to buy :(

This is the BEST stealth game I have played since finishing MGS3 and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.

seriously! if you use the run and gun approach you will be disappointed, especially since ammo is scarce. The stealth tools on the other hand are really awesome

I found some sort of a bullet enhancement or power enhancement for the handgun, and when I combined it the handgun got an new look underneaht it, next to the trigger, very cool look.
I have yet to fire it, but I also added laser sight to it.

I do like the fact if you find these extras for your weapons and you modify it they change in appearence, very nice.
At first I thought I just needed to keep it in my inventory and it would work, but combining it is the key.

I actually dont mind this tbh, reminds me of Resident Evil 4 and 5, from look and combining different stuff to get something else out of it.

Played just a few hours of it, so I am not that far into it, but its a great game, pass the graphics obviously.
But I truly feel like I am playing the same role as Rick Deckard (Blade Runner) but augmentated and badass.

The music is amazing but that is to be expected.

Personally, I make sure I manually save a slot incase I screw up and it auto saves and goes into checkponts.
Many cases I have done that, so it comes in handy to have 1 or more than 1 game save. I try to avoid going into firefights and always try to take the hacking/stealth way and use shooting if I have to.

But anyways, the game is fun so far.
