from the demo (that has to be the most addictive demo since crackdown IMO) I think this game will do exactly what that guy keeps going on about. Turning gamers into car nuts, etc.

The realism of the driving experience has made me start driving with all assists off, and in manual, and even without sim damage, i always avoid bumping other drivers when coming up to corners.

The only things stopping this from being a perfect 10 is probably visual. Overall the game looks great and super smooth in motion. But the game dosen't look right with the jaggies. they just shouldn't be there. ok, obviously nit picking because no game is flawless;)

After Acert's super funny nuclear explosion comment on the reflections on the cars, that's what bugs me the most. Apart from that, the sheer cleanness of it on an HDTV makes it look so perfectly SOLID, and that's what completely saves the visuals for me. Ridge Racer 6 actually looks good in a similar way.

I'm loving the demo too, and I really dunno what I'm worried about for the final game. I'm just holding my breath for the scores and more in depth reporting on the customization aspect in terms of decals and car painting.

Definitely not the main reason I'm playing the beta more now is cause we have such a short amount of time with the beta :(

I think it's tougher luck for Shadowrun, although who knows. Maybe that "Game Over" screen for the beta that has a plug for Shadowrun will breath some life into that games sales. Maybe bungie can work their magic for FASA just like they did for RTW :P

I think plenty of people will still buy Forza. The Halo 3 beta doesn't go on forever anyway, and they'll need something to play until September 25th. Personally I'll probably go back to BF2 until that time, but I'll also be looking to pick up Forza as well.

I think your average Forza 2 fan doesn't neccessarily own Crackdown in the first place, hence aren't really playing Halo 3 now anyway.

Not saying they can't like both sims and Crackdown, just saying that they're prolly slightly different audiences when you move away from the hardcore.

There are only 400000 Halo 3 Beta gamers, so majority of Xbox 360 aren't occupied by this game.

When I get a chance I will do a, "What Turn10 did right graphically/looks good in FM2" post. I figure I may as well say some positives about that part of the game as well (seeing as the physics and gameplay have gotten plenty of attention). My goal is to compliment it without using "buts" and qualifiers. Lets see if I can survice that post! :P

Scarface, how many good demos has there been between Crackdown and Forza? Telling us Forza 2 (or Halo 3) are the best demos since Crackdown, as if that indicates something, really doesn't because between the recent demos and Crackdown -- all nice demos -- there really hasn't been anything noteworthy, hence it isn't saying much to say it is the best demo since Crackdown.

And that even shortens the list as most demos are... demos and not intended to be played over and over again, which would cut into sales. The same reason the Halo 3 beta is a beta and not a demo. Of course the Crackdown demo did a world of good in generating sales for the title and was addictive without providing enough content to be self sufficient. FM2 actually comes with quite a bit of content. Anyhow, who cares. It was a throw away comment to lead into my post, and the point remains good/addictive demos on far and inbetween.

i think i got confused.

"That isn't saying much :P" i presumed you were referring to crackdown not being a good demo, but what you meant was the lack of good demos between Crackdown and Foza2. There hasn't been many, thats true:P

Less jaggies on GTHD (no wonder since it's 1080p), and Forza 2 looks more colorfull and obviously has a lot more cars on the track..

Just got my new issue of SCC in the mail today (July 2007 issue) to find on page 24 a nice review from a "car guy's" perspective, not so much a review from a straight up gamer like we have seen everywhere already.
Much of the article is discussing how the detailed game physics were implemented, but here are a few nice things he had to say about the game...


"In the case of Microsoft's Forza 2, [its] probably the most realistic game I've experienced..."

"On familiar tracks, braking points, turning points, visual markers and quirky terrain changes are all exactly where they've been burned into my memory from the real thing..."

"I'm really contemplating selling Project Corolla for the 3 screen, 3 Xbox 360 setup. It's probably cheaper in the long run and will definately entail fewer grease-filled late nights. And it might just save me from being smoked on a track one day by some 16-year-old newbie with more virtual track time than I have real."

I'm pretty excited that this is landing in the US in less than a week.. but I probably won't be there on day one. Halo 3 is keeping me pretty busy.. I just got Guitar Hero 2 and haven't even played it yet.
