The Forza trailer was so well done.
I forget the name of the team that puts together those drifting videos. Team Blackjack or something :S

Also I'm glad they are allowing for cars to be flipped over. Should make for some spectacular crashes. (Who else if loosing decides to drive in the opposite direction to crash into the oncoming cars?)

I caught some gameplay vids on gamespot and if you drive in the opposite direction now, your car will turn into a ghost car preventing you from crashing into oncoming cars. Which is very good especially for online.

well I think the vids where of single player and not multiplayer. Whether it's arcade or career is another question.

This wouldn't be a forza thread without a bit of drama so let's gets going :D

One person claims he played the game at E3 and says that the framerate drops to 30fps when in cockpit view.

It doesn't look like it, but I suppose we'll see if we hear this from a more trustworthy source as it could simply be a troll.

Forza 3 is pretty cool. I'm surprised that racing in the Cockpit view drops the to framerate to 30fps. Hopefully they change that by release.

I'm personally filing it into the troll category until I get more proof because I've been looking at videos and it doesn't appear that way at all.

There is no way to tell unless the Video itself runs at 60 FPS. This is a useless discussion until someone more official confirms/denies it. It sounds like BS to me anyway.

Ok GT5 DOES look better. Let's just get something straight. Are we all aware the following video is not representative of.......even a replay?

With that said, GT5 is the better looking of the two at least as of right now, although I don't see that changing.

And Jin, GT will be doing damage this time around. They are doing stupid Nascar too though, which is retarded. They are also doing Rally, like they ever did a good job at it. And if they are having this stupid drift mode that was in Prologue then we have a really inconsistent game that doesn't know what to be.

I want to see MORE of these two games.

Yea seems like bs to me as well. Nobody else anywhere has said such a thing.

Lebato we all know that, it's the Forza 3 Video Editor in action. We know that isn't a replay nor actual gameplay. It's a video done in the editor.

Call me blind, but I've yet to see that GT5 looks better graphically especially in the environment department. Also a lot of what we saw in the GT5 video can just as easily be video mixed with replays. Until I see some actual gameplay footage of GT5, I won't be singing it's praises just yet. Unless we plan to go based on prologue?

I UPLOADED that video, it's my youtube channel... now. Let me explain something very clearly.

If you encode a video @ 60FPS its for a reason. It is because the content is 60 F P S, not because it's running @ 30 FPS. Because you cannot show a game that is actually running at 30fps running @ 60 FPS just because you encoded that way. Now you can show a 60FPS game @ 30 FPS if you DO encode the video capped at 30 FPS and the game will look like it's running at 30 FPS, makes sense right?

Ask Blimblim, it's his websites video he capped that, all I did was throw it on YT and give him credit.

Forza 3 RUNS at 60 FPS in and out of the cockpit, end of story. Now if this was seen in a Replay by you and it actually runs @ 30 fps in the replay then that's another story.

Something like that would not be allowed to happen by MS.

Which Forza 3 did you play? Everyone else (including myself) played the 60fps one. You should have asked for the 60fps version. They were hiding these from you.

Lebato, damage in GT5 might be restricted to just rally cars. I think the car lighting in GT5 is still superior to Forza 3's though.

I think the only edge GT5 has graphically is the car models and perhaps less aliasing? I'm not entirely sure because that video can be played with in so many ways.

I think the lighting and reflections off the cars, during actual gameplay, looks better than anything I've seen of GT5 thus far.

Forza 3 even appears to have motion blur still on while still being 60fps.

That is inconsistent, I wouldn't take it. I technically would (because I'm buying the game regardless), but it would be a huge flaw.

Yeah, so far the environments are looking better in Forza, true. A funny thing is that people (including me) criticize GT for their old school, sorry ass 2D trees. But honestly, I still think their car models are looking too damn awesome, along with the amount of them on track, and the lighting. It can have some truly photorealistic instances which I have yet to see from FM3.

We agree 100% on the cars. I think GT has much better car models. I don't know if the Forza series will ever match them in that area.

Also Polyphony seems to have found that perfect blend of lighting, texture to give that amazingly photo realistic look and Forza's combination ends up making it stand out more as a videogame, but I'll be damned if it isn't one great looking game :)

Forza comes off as more visually appealing to me right now, but who knows that may be an opinion I adjust as I see more of what GT5 has to offer.

Didn't the first sign of damage we saw in that gt trailer occur on a nascar or normal track and not a rally track? I think it did if you look at the hood they were blatantly showing us it. Also, GT may also have superior interiors. Turn10 may need time to improve on those. Another, and this is minor I guess, but I don't know anyone that can perfectly keep their hands on a steering wheel like that as it flips :P

They should have the driver's hands go mad or something, but maybe that would impact gameplay if the car is still driveable.

Yeah, that guy was really grabbing that wheel. I also noticed that they are trying to make the wheel movements really smooth too, and I think it's fine. Either you have some jerky movements that you don't do in real life, or a something really smooth, matter of choice.

I don't know if GT will have it, but time and time again, PD has given stupid excuses for not doing damage or flipping cars. I didn't read it anywhere, I just stated the game "might" only have damage for rally or nascars considering the time it would take to do damage modeling for all the normal cars (isn't it rumored to have over 800?) in addition to licensing problems. If there was damage for the regular cars I think Polyphony would have showed it instead of just on the rally part of the trailer.
