Wow!! Check out this vid when Greenawalt goes into debug mode and pauses the game. Damn it looks good!

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-forza-moto...

Another vid here.
The game looks amazing and the sense of speed is awesome and it looks to be running at 60fps during replays too! The game looks so beautiful with those brilliant vibrant backdrops, definately the best looking racer around.

I think the only edge GT5 has graphically is the car models and perhaps less aliasing? I'm not entirely sure because that video can be played with in so many ways.

I think the lighting and reflections off the cars, during actual gameplay, looks better than anything I've seen of GT5 thus far.

Forza 3 even appears to have motion blur still on while still being 60fps.

Wow guess i missed these gameplay vids earlier.

http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14345839/forza-...

This one shows the cockpit.
Ok lets put this into perspective...

GT5:

+ Blightly better exterior car models

Forza 3:

+ True dynamic lighting
+ Slightly better interior car models
+ MUCH better looking backgrounds
+ 60fps throughout
+ Substantial car damage
Posté par LEBATO
And Jin, GT will be doing damage this time around.
Yeah, I read that, but i have a feeling it will be just internal damage not shown on the exterior.

I don't think Forza 3's lighting is dynamic. From the vids it seems to use pre-baked lighting like Forza 1 and 2. If the lighting was dynamic then it would be easy for them to include a day and night system in Forza 3.

GT5 is 60fps as well, so it's not really a + for Forza. ;)

Also from the damage shown in the forza vids, it looks like your bumpers no longer come off, and the dents and deformations look pretty limited and not as drastic as Forza 2.

Anyway, the thing with Forza 3 is that it still looks videogame-ish in terms of the overall graphics imo. GT's environments might not be on par in terms of geometry and detail but they still manage to make it look photoreal. I think both games look great though and no one really should be complaining. I'm just glad Forza's car models are nearly up to GT5's standards.

The lighting looks dynamic from the vids I saw and i dont think anyone has said night tracks havent been included?

Isnt GT5 30fps in replay mode?

Lets not forget that the only footage of GT5 we have seen has been put together using replays which has God knows how many added effects and crazy levels of AA. Just like GT5p, when driving, the game doesnt look anywhere near as good and far from photoreal.

All I've seen is pre-baked lighting with HDR making the game graphics go from dark to light. GT5's lighting is pre-baked too. If there are night tracks in Forza 3 then I expect them to be created as a night track with pre-baked lighting. If the game had dynamic lighting then I wouldn't only expect night races but also dusk and cloudy lighting conditions for all tracks.

Isn't GT5 30fps in replay mode
It was true for GT5p but we don't know anyhing about GT5 yet. Forza 2 had 30fps replays too and the replays in Forza 3 haven't been confirmed to be 60fps.

True about GT5 but check out that gametrailers vid, it definately appears to be running at 60fps, i may be wrong so we'll just have to wait and see :)

the way i see it BOTH games look better than any other racing game. pg5 gets a nodge on graphics and forza has better physics. the choice is based on what everyone feels is more important.
i know that either game will get our racing fix for many years :D

I finally checked out Snoopers offscreen footage of this game and you guys aren't joking.
This game is the real deal graphically. I'm actually kind of blown away.

Saw it on the conference feed but it was so compressed I couldn't tell how good it really looks.

I'm calling pre-baked with HDR.

Here's a list of rumors by Tofu R.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1612573...

Outside of the questionable Nissan r35 comment, it seems he was right about a few things, and ever since it was mentioned at Turn10's forums his posts were deleted.

He mentions SUVs before the creative director ever mentioned it in an interview. He also mentions super high-res car models for the menu, photomode, thumbnail images, which look to be true (the in-game cars don't look quite as nice as the cars during the menu select screen where the camera zooms in on rotating car models (see gamespot's demo with che and dan).

If everything else is true then there won't be day and night or weather.

Turn10 have really stepped up to the plate, i wanna see more varied time of day settings. GT5 looked pretty impressive with the dawn/dusk stuff, still a bit light but the cars with their lights on. Or even night time driving.

But yea, all the vids that we've seen so far have proven that they do have what it takes graphically. F2 was "pretty" but the engine was flawed in numerous ways that were completely impossible to ignore, this time though...better textures, better lighting, better models, better tracks. Rewind is a godsend, i just hope that isnt the only concession theyve made to the less committed driver, as i said earlier, F2 was insanely hard to get into, especially after the amount of laps reached double figures, the reward verses the time involved was pathetic.

What has convinced you that it isn't? I think it's sorta hard to tell from what little we've seen thus far, one way or another. I'll let Acert come in here and school us all.

The way the track looks in motion. Some objects just don't match with the rest of the environment in the way things are lit, it just doesn't look lit by a dynamic light source to me.

There's also that rumor that day and night got cut, which should be easier to do and cut the workload in creating each track's lighting condition if the lighting was completely dynamic.

I'm not saying I'm 100% sure either, but to me it doesn't look dynamic. It looks to be lit the same way Forza 2 was lit, except this time they managed to actually create decent looking pre-baked lighting.

here's an example of dynamic lighting from Alan Wake. Notice how all of the objects look to be lit under the same conditions regardless of what time of day it is.

I've been looking at the awesome lighting and the reflections rolling off the cars and sometimes onto other cars in a some of the vids so I thought it was dynamic.

Ultimately whether it's dynamic or pre-baked won't make a difference I guess since it looks really nice.

The car lighting looks better than before, but you don't need a dynamic light source to do good reflections and car lighting. See GT5p.

Well, it would make a difference if Turn10 wanted to include a realistic day and night system. ;) That way they won't have to individually go in and completely relight and retexture every environment.

Acert may be a bit out of his league on this one. This discussion is simply too complex for him to handle at this time.

If they wanted to do day and night cycle, my guess is that they would do a dynamic lighting pass to create their pre baked lights then use dynamic lights only for the head lamps of the cars.
