Wow!! Check out this vid when Greenawalt goes into debug mode and pauses the game. Damn it looks good!

Another vid here.
I think the lighting and reflections off the cars, during actual gameplay, looks better than anything I've seen of GT5 thus far.
Forza 3 even appears to have motion blur still on while still being 60fps.

Wow guess i missed these gameplay vids earlier.

This one shows the cockpit.
GT5:
+ Blightly better exterior car models
Forza 3:
+ True dynamic lighting
+ Slightly better interior car models
+ MUCH better looking backgrounds
+ 60fps throughout
+ Substantial car damage
+ 60fps throughout
+ Substantial car damage
GT5 is 60fps as well, so it's not really a + for Forza. ;)
Also from the damage shown in the forza vids, it looks like your bumpers no longer come off, and the dents and deformations look pretty limited and not as drastic as Forza 2.
Anyway, the thing with Forza 3 is that it still looks videogame-ish in terms of the overall graphics imo. GT's environments might not be on par in terms of geometry and detail but they still manage to make it look photoreal. I think both games look great though and no one really should be complaining. I'm just glad Forza's car models are nearly up to GT5's standards.

Isnt GT5 30fps in replay mode?
i know that either game will get our racing fix for many years :D
When all think alike, no one is thinking very much.
This game is the real deal graphically. I'm actually kind of blown away.
Saw it on the conference feed but it was so compressed I couldn't tell how good it really looks.

I take back what i said about GT5 having slightly better car model exteriors
Here's a list of rumors by Tofu R.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1612573...
Outside of the questionable Nissan r35 comment, it seems he was right about a few things, and ever since it was mentioned at Turn10's forums his posts were deleted.
He mentions SUVs before the creative director ever mentioned it in an interview. He also mentions super high-res car models for the menu, photomode, thumbnail images, which look to be true (the in-game cars don't look quite as nice as the cars during the menu select screen where the camera zooms in on rotating car models (see gamespot's demo with che and dan).
If everything else is true then there won't be day and night or weather.
But yea, all the vids that we've seen so far have proven that they do have what it takes graphically. F2 was "pretty" but the engine was flawed in numerous ways that were completely impossible to ignore, this time though...better textures, better lighting, better models, better tracks. Rewind is a godsend, i just hope that isnt the only concession theyve made to the less committed driver, as i said earlier, F2 was insanely hard to get into, especially after the amount of laps reached double figures, the reward verses the time involved was pathetic.

There's also that rumor that day and night got cut, which should be easier to do and cut the workload in creating each track's lighting condition if the lighting was completely dynamic.
I'm not saying I'm 100% sure either, but to me it doesn't look dynamic. It looks to be lit the same way Forza 2 was lit, except this time they managed to actually create decent looking pre-baked lighting.
here's an example of dynamic lighting from Alan Wake. Notice how all of the objects look to be lit under the same conditions regardless of what time of day it is.

Ultimately whether it's dynamic or pre-baked won't make a difference I guess since it looks really nice.
