it will also feature new game-enhacing graphical effects such as damage, night racing and weather.

These innovations are twinned with the option to join millions of like-minded individuals globally within the Gran Turismo community and to find a driving experience to suit, whether that is taking on the Top Gear test track, chucking cars around stunt arenas, go-karting, creating and sharing your own track or intense head-to-head races. Who, where and what to drive is completely down to the individual.
Getting hyped again. Graphics look too good for me to pass up on even with GT4 model ports.

I look forward to playing with the 50+ Skyline variations.

It does look extremely nice, though. PD is still unrivaled in their car designs, GT4 ports included.

Well, those features are hard to pass by. We still don't know if night racing applies to all races though. Also, as much as I want to believe the weather system (which again might be limited), last time Kaz was interviewed (last week on tweeter) he said "maybe" in regards to weather.

I love the idea of go-karting, and track creator (I'm hoping it's something truly powerful here--this one would be a killer). I don't know, I might be the only one, but I wish they had spent whatever time they had to work on importing GT4 cars and actually make more premium cars. If we had ended with 300 to 400 premium it would have been just fine. In this case they just chose quantity over quality. No middle ground, no consistency, nonsense.

I agree w/ Lebato that I'd easily take 400 premium cars over a ton of cars w/ no cockpit view and ported models that are just jazzed up a bit, unless those models significantly improve. I'm assuming these cars will also have less realistic physics and performance based on their real life counterparts as well.

As for the track creator, if they end up having a truly complete track creator for this game I will be one very happy racing fan. That could easily make up for some of these other rumored flaws and shortcuts being taken to get the game out before the PS4 arrives.

Well, we know the Top Gear track doesn't have much going for it as far as looks go. But honestly, it doesn't get anymore generic and....plain as this:

I don't know what to think, everything in this game is so all over the place. 6 years, 20 tracks, those looks? Then you've got the city tracks which look decent enough, etc. So really, if there was a distinction between tracks, the top gear one would definitely be a standard track, lol. The rally track shown thus far also looks totally bland by the way.

It really makes it clear just how incredibly inconsistent GT5 has turned out to be. Imagine watching a replay of those beautiful premium cars racing around that Rome track, then the next replay is those ugly standard cars racing around that Top Gear track with those horrendous engine noises :S

This difference is 1 is in motion, the other 2 are screen grabs.

The track in the gif is the same track as that picture with the plane btw...

there's not much going on in the real track anyway.

It is the same, but the gif is focused on the--premium--car which saves the day. The actual track being kind of empty is not an excuse for what you see on that shot above, I was hoping I wouldn't need to point out exactly what looks lazy about it?

lol. It is technically miles ahead of others

There is nothing knows as standard or premium at least from any previews.

But looking how generic this Ferrari looks here I think standard models will be better than other racers.

Damn, I can't get over had bad that pic of Forza 3 is. That game looks SOOOOOO much better on my TV it's insane that's even the same game. Thankfully the cars in Forza 3 look far superior to that pic, but I think that even the non premium car models should look ok in GT5, it's just a shame that they don't have any interior or cockpit view (if that is true).

It's going to be jarring how inconsistent GT5 seems like it's gonna be, but that certainly won't stop me from buying and enjoying the game. The launch of this game is gonna be pretty interesting.

It's not just the car model, it's the uniform lighting that makes the car as well as the environment look realistic; I think they pretty much nailed the lighting and that's what saves the graphics for me.

As for the bland look, I really don't see anything more barren from the real track besides it needing better vegetation.

it looks pretty nice in video form to me.

So we have some ultraphotorealistic cars, some uprezzed PS2 car modelsand trees that look like pasted photographies? Nice jobe with doing the visuals uniform across the game. Though I read the feature list and was very impressed, they didn't spend these 6 years since PS sitting on their asses.

I thought you had a sharp eye for imperfections, but it seems I was wrong. That tracks looks plain ugly, video form or whatever. And yes, the lighting is great, and the asphalt tends to look ok, that makes it look better than PS2 I give you that. I still don't see how that makes it less terrible for a 2010 racing game.

Remember, GT:PSP also has cockpit view for all of it's cars too. The cockpit mode consists of a couple of black bars round the screen and no actual detail though...
I'm not holding my breath either way, Polyphony is so full of shit you can't believe anything they say, i'd say they're even worse than greenawalt these days, either by limiting information or skewing the truth so far.

GTPSP like interior would be laughable, they better not even think about it.

I just can't see them having an interior, there is no such a thing with GT4 cars. Why would they take the time to model an interior, and not remodel the whole thing? Not happening.
